Are expensive strollers worth it?
I really love my Chicco and it was not expensive at all.
What is the difference? Is there a difference? Or is it just to say you have a such and such stroller?

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I think it depends on what your needs are. If you rarely use a stroller, than I would say no. If you use your stroller heavily, a more durable (likely more expensive) one is worth it IMO.
If you're getting the stroller in & out of a car repeatedly, the heavier strollers with complicated folds are a pain.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
Totally agree with what Barb said. It depends on your needs. I have a $330 Peg that I love, and a $70 Chicco that I love. Each has a different purpose and I use them accordingly. Would I love a $700 Bugaboo? Sure, but I couldn't justify the cost to peruse the malls just to have it, KWIM? If I was a city dweller, that's more warrented.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
we have a bugaboo -- and living in brooklyn with no car, there was no other choice for us. it is amazing on the busted up sidewalks!! if we lived in the suburbs and were going in and out of a car constantly, it wouldn't make sense to get a bug.

I agree with this. I mean, we are constantly in the car, so at this point, a travel system makes the most sense to us.
My friend lives in Manhattan and has a Quinny and I could NEVER use that thing on a daily basis.

I agree that as long as it fits your lifestyle, then it's definately worth it. I have a BumbleRide, which was not cheap and I think it's SOOOOO worth the money!

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I do think it is. We had the travel system, which served it's purpose when she was young and in the infant seat. Now we just have an inexpensive Combi umbrella stroller type thing, and for the long walks we've been taking at night it's just not cutting it. It does horribly on bumpy sidewalks, and is very low. I'm only 5'5" (DH is 6'3") and it hurts my back because the handles are low. My sister just got a maclaren and the handles are so much higher, so much more comfortable, and it's a smoother ride for the baby.
I am glad I have the cheap combi because it'll be good to bring to FLorida this summer and is good to have in the trunk of the car for quick trips into stores, but for longer walks we definately need something more expensive and sturdier.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I love my Bugaboo and am sad that I had to retire it to the boiler cupboard! When I was on mat leave it was invaluable, I was walking probably close to a mile or two every single day, so it was brilliant. It goes over sidewalks and curbs like a dream. But to be honest, the Bug isn't big enough for a 16 month old, the seat is too narrow. That is a serious design flaw for an expensive piece of equipment. I saw my friend little boy in the seat of his and he was barely on there! It was worth the money for the time that I used it everyday. But I bought a Maclaren that I really love to use, and thats fantastic! So its all dependant on how you use it really!

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
We have a Bugaboo Frog and a Graco Metro and I would say the Bugaboo is alot nice of a stroller. It glides nicer and it works nicer and is super light. I just can't get over the price. The graco folds easier and is really heavy.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I am city mom with a bugaboo. We rarely drive (Dh does have a car for work), and when we walk around, its amazing. Its so easy to get up stairs and she glides over all those cracks in teh sidewalks.
WHen we drive, its a PITA. We hate taking it apart and fitting the 2 pieces in the car.
SO if I drove on a regular basis, I woudl say no. But for city living- definitely.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I have a Bugaboo Cameleon, Peg Perego Venezia MT and a Maclaren Quest.
Once we started using the Bugaboo, we couldn't stand to use the Peg Perego. DH basically banished the Peg Perego to the basement. DH was hesitant about the Bugaboo at first b/c of the cost. Like most, he questioned whether it was really better than the others, but now he recommends it to everyone...especially after using the Peg Perego.
The Bugaboo is a pain in the butt b/c it doesn't collapse, but that's why we have the Maclaren (for those times when we'll need to bring & collapse the stroller in a restaurant, etc.)
But for the most part, we bring and use the Bugaboo everywhere.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I have a Zippy Inglesina and love it. It cost 300....it is very durable, easy to fold and unfold with one hand, and looks nice. I live in the burbs and use it for walks around the park, mall, etc... We keep it in the trunk. I also used the snap and go for the first 6 mos and loved that too!! We also have a crappy 30 dollar Costco umbrella stroller that is just that, not made well but good for banging around in.
IMO - I think the cost is worth it for a good stroller especially if you use it alot.

Re: Are expensive strollers worth it?
I think you need to consider many factors for any stroller decision.
I have a Metrolite and love it. It weights 14lbs, the same as the Snap and Go. it also folds UP and for my bad back that is a huge plus. I think a snacktray is a must have in a stroller. Not everyone cares about that. I have a Combi as a second stroller and don't really like it at all. I find it hard to adjust the straps. I also have a sit and stand and that is great when I have both kids, but it is heavy and takes up a ton of room.
I use a car most of the time. If you were going to use your stroller as a main way of transport with the baby then you would want to consider other things like tire durability. Also, you need to make sure that it can easily go in and out of cabs in the city.
