Starting the Nursery??

Just curious...when did/do you plan on starting the nursery? DH wants to start now but I am only 5.5 months and think we have time.

TIA

Re: Starting the Nursery??

I am 34 weeks and still haven't started the nursery! Furniture is being delivered on Monday. We are team Chat Icon so I am thinking we may just do most of it after the baby is born and we know the sex. Planning on baby being in our room in a bassinet for the first couple of months so all I really need to be done in the nursery is the dresser for clothes and the changing table.

Re: Starting the Nursery??

I'm 17wks & 1 day. I am cleaning out the room this weekend (we use it for storage). We already have the furniture so I'm going to decide the layout. Then next weekend, we are going to go shopping for paint and possibly wallpaper for the accent wall. We are Chat Icon but I am so excited to put together the nursery!

Re: Starting the Nursery??

We had our furniture delivered at about 20 weeks and we're painting this week, I am 30 weeks now. DH thinks we're too early, but I think we're making good time. My goal is to have everything done by 36 weeks!

Re: Starting the Nursery??

I am 23 weeks, and we started cleaning out the room weeks ago. We need to put stuff in the attic in order to get it totally cleared out, but we need to have attic steps installed first to make it easier. Hopefully that will be done soon. Otherwise, we ordered the furniture last night, have picked out, but not ordered, a wall decal, and need to choose our paint color. Oh, and we also had a ceiling fan installed last week b/c we were having other electrical work done in the house and there was no overhead lighting in there.

We are Jewish, and somewhat superstitious, so we actually don't plan on having a lot of stuff done in the nursery before the baby is born. I told DH that I would like to have the furniture in by the very end, but he's not sure that he wants to yet.

We just got the paint, area rug, and furniture in at 32 weeks. I have to say, the next two weeks are gonna kill me. I can't wait till the shower so I can fill it up with all of her things!

I'm not gonna lie, it made me a little nervous to wait so long (mostly bc we had major construction to do) but if I had to see it sit empty for months it would be torture!

Re: Starting the Nursery??

Officially starting when the new carpet goes in which should be within the next 2 weeks. I'll be just starting my 3rd tri. We have all furniture already and wall color is staying the same. Just need to put in a closet system. The work shouldn't be too much.

Re: Starting the Nursery??

um... im 11 weeks and ours is done already Chat Icon

Ok, not REALLY done, we cleaned out the room (had a lot of storage stuff in there), painted, and put in the new flooring and light fixture. We painted sage green which is beautiful and is gender neutral.

But to be fair we are renovating our whole house so we just decided to do that room next, we only have the 3rd BR left to do :)

We're obviously not going to fully decorate until we find out what it is :)

Re: Starting the Nursery??

I am due 3/25 and we started like 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, I don't remember when it was fiished but it's been done for awhile now. But DH had to knock down walls, bulid new ones and then the whole room had to re-sheetrocked, new floors, new ceiling, new electrical, painted, mouldings and he did it all himself aside from a little help from my dad with painting.

Re: Starting the Nursery??

DS#1 had the nursery and about 3 weeks ago we moved him into his big boy room after his furniture arrived. We are having another boy so it pretty much stayed the same. It's a vintage nautical theme. Last weekend we just brought down the newborn and 3 month clothes down from the attic and washed them all and put them away, washed the swing fabric, the infant seat fabric, baby bjorn, blankets, etc etc. Two weeks ago I washed the crib bedding and put it all on. Everything is pretty much done and ready to go.

Re: Starting the Nursery??

I am 29 weeks today and haven't started it yet, but that's only because we just bought our house so we have other work that needs to be done before I can begin on the baby's room. I have gotten the bedding for the baby (it was a birthday gift from my friends) and have sort of picked a color. Hopefully we'll be working on the baby's room in the next 2-3 weeks or so!
