Newly Potty trained and starting Nursery School...

My DD (just turned 3 last week) has been potty trained for a month or so...

but she still battles us ...at times... to go...tells us she doesn't when we want her to (bribing is usually the only thing that works) and if we let it go too long she gets too busy and will occasionally still have accidents!

we went for a 2 weeks with one accident at night..then we had a bunch in the third week so we went back to the pull ups at night...and wakes up mostly dry..but we agreed to wait until she goes a whole week straight being dry before stopping that!

She still wants us to sit with her and read while on the potty and we have high toilets so still waits for us to get her up there to go...so she never just goes to the bathroom on her own..she annouces it and one of us goes in there with her to help...

I am trying to stop the reading the books bec I keep telling her that the teacher will not be able to go in with you if you have to go at school...but that often causes a tantrum! Chat Icon Chat Icon

So what happens at nursery school...she will be going 2 days for 3 hrs each day starting sept...

What do you BTDT moms do/tell the teacher for your newly potty trained 3 yr olds

what will they do/not do when it comes to potty!?!?!

All of the teachers my kids have had for 2yo and 3yo classes asked the parents to let them know what the potty situation was for each kid, so they knew what to expect. At our school a teacher takes the kids to the bathroom, and we send in a change of clothes in case of accident, which are common in the nursery classes and the kids don't make fun of each other over it.

By the time they are 4 and in pre-k they are all good at the potty, but we are still asked to send in clothes in case of accidents. The teachers still take the kids to the bathroom, children are not allowed to be walking around the school unsupervised at any time.

this has been our experience as well. DD was trained right before she entered a 2 1/2 year old class and i was worried not knowing what to expect. she was fine! sometimes the kids just want to be like everyone else and just do it. i know my DD listens WAY more to her teacher than me Chat Icon Chat Icon ...

Re: Newly Potty trained and starting Nursery School...

DS started Pre-k a little more than a month after he started potty training, he also went 2 mornings a week and the teachers had a strict no help rule. Most often he didn't go to the bathroom at school. He went the very first day of school and fell in the potty, poor kid. After that he really never used the potty there. He would only have 1 drink before school and he would go right before we left the house and then he was good to go for the 3 hours he was at school.

eta we were not allowed to bring in clothes and the teachers would call us to come change the kids if there was an accident. It happened once the whole year. By the end of the year he started using the potty there once and a while because he was more comfortable.
