Umbilical Position/Counting Kicks
So, my sono tech told me that my baby's umbilical cord is draped around the neck, like a scarf. It's not "wrapped", but they told me to pay attention to movement and count kicks each hour. They said I should feel 8-10 movements an hour. I don't want to be nervous about it, but I kind of am, of course. The baby really moves a lot, but when I count kicks, what are the guidelines?
a) If the baby does a rapid "kick-kick", back to back, does that count as one or two?
b) If the back to back kicks count as "one", how long do I wait before counting the next movement as another one?
c) Do I count EVERY hour? If not, how often?
I just want to make sure I'm "counting kicks" correctly.
Was anyone else told about this umbilical cord issue? They said it's not "cause for concern" - just a reason to monitor kicks. And they said about 1 in 3 women have this with their babies and some docs don't even mention it, but they do so it can monitored.
