When did you have to start counting your kicks

At 24 weeks I still dont feel the baby every hour, but I do feel Chat Icon alot more than I used to. My doctor has not mentioned counting kicks yet.

I guess my Chat Icon is, when did you start feeling the baby every hour and when did you have to count kicks?

TIA

I'm 30 weeks and I see the doctor on Wednesday. Up until this point she hasn't mentioned anything about counting yet. She just asks if he's moving around a lot.
I think I read on babycenter.com that you can start counting at 28/29 weeks.

I see my midwife today - I'm 30w5d and haven't been told to count kicks.

And to be completely honest, I don't get the "average" 10 kicks an hour.

I definitely feel him moving what I think is hourly but there is no schedule to his movement.

I was never told to count kicks, with either pregnancy.

Me neither!

ETA: there were times I wouldnt feel him for hours and then he would wake up, beat me up for an hour or so and go back to sleep.

I was told to count kicks only if I felt the baby was moving less than usual, which hasn't happend yet and I am 37 weeks.

That's ok your baby still has a lot of room to move since you're only 24 weeks so you might feel it kicking once in a while. My doctor told me to start counting kicks when I hit 30 Weeks. And you will never feel the baby move every hour, so don't get concerned. I feel a baby gets a lot more active when it starts to have sleeping patterns which is around 27 or 28 weeks right at the beginning of your 7th month/3rd trimester.

I'm 34 weeks and I already know his sleeping patterns so when I don't feel him move for a few hours I know he's sleeping and when he wakes up he makes up for lost time LOL Chat Icon

Re: When did you have to start counting your kicks

i would make myself crazy if i tried to count kicks.Chat Icon

as long as i feel him move every so often, i'm fine.

i actually haven't felt him move in 3 days and wasn't really concerned. i just got back from the doctor because my friend made me go Chat Icon and everything is fine. they said he's just being lazy. so if i had to count kicks, i would have been in the ER 3 days ago.
