Re: How far would you go

For me personally, I do not care if I have a boy or girl so we just do the deed and let nature take its course......

Re: How far would you go

Given the fact that I am only going to get pregnant through science and not that natural way, I'll let nature takes it course so at least something about my getting pregnant is natural.

ETA: Even if I could get pregnant the natural way, I still would not mess with nature.

Re: How far would you go

I'm not going to lie - we want two children and if the first is a girl, we'd like the second to be a boy (or vice versa)

I think I would try timing intercourse to influence gender and maybe diet, but that's probably as extreme as I would go.

Also, things like the jock strap or douching actually make you less likely to conceive at all - and we don't have that kind of time if you know what I mean! Chat Icon Even timing intercourse - especially if you're trying for a girl which requires you to have sex a few days before O and the abstain - limits your chances of conceiving.

I don't think I'd do anything to sway the gender! We're having a little more trouble than we thought just getting pregnant in the first place, so I'll just take a healthy baby!

I wouldn't try anything, lol.

Of course I'll always *wish* for what I'd like (I hope for a girl next, but I really don't care).

Chat Icon I wonder who or what doctors originally came up with the idea that wearing a jock strap could help sway the sex of your baby...can you imagine that conversation for the first time!

Wow, is all I have to say, I had never heard of any of those things before....pretty interesting! Chat Icon

Oh, and to answer the question...I would love to have a boy and a girl..but I know for a fact DH would not wear a jock strap!

The scrotum is basically designed to keep the testes at optimum temperature for sperm production - that's why they hang outside the body. Anything that keeps them close to the body - tight underwear, jock straps, etc - will raise the temperature. The idea being that male sperm are faster than female sperm, but more fragile. So by raising the temp of the scrotum will kill off some of the male sperm. But as we said earlier, killing off any sperm hurt your chances of getting pregnant at all.

Re: How far would you go

Honestly, I would love to have a baby girl so that we could break a trend in both our families (all boys) but honestly, as long as they are healthy, I would not go into anything to sway the gender of my baby. I just want God to bless us with one...Chat Icon

Re: How far would you go

I would love to have another girl & a boy. Wishing for it is probably about as far as I would go. We will be happy just to have another child boy or girl.

Re: How far would you go

FYI - if anyone is interested in gender selection, there has been some success with a more scientific approach - the sperm are spun in a centrifuge to separate the X sperm from the Y sperm.

We would just be so very happy if we had a healthly baby. We want both so we would be so estatic to have a child.

Re: How far would you go

honestly, i dont' believe in any of that crap..... it just happens when that sperm hits the egg and that's it. i highly doubt that there is anything you can do to influence the sex of your child. have these methods even been scientifically or medically proven?
everything happens for a reason. it is what it is!!!

My aunt thought about doing this- but it is really expensive (about $15,000) and there are no guarantees that you will get what you want (or even get pregnant!)

I wouldn't scientifically mess with nature but I am all about the old wives tales!! I really want a boy and then a girl -- I'll take anything of course, but that is how I would love it to happen! Chat Icon
