Noreen - totally understand what you're saying - they very well could have edited out things other contestants said - but regardless - he made a really bad decision dismissing the band, he royally s*cked at his audition, and at the risk of sounding like a b1tch - it's not a charity show.
ITA! I also cringed while he was singing, if you can call his last audition that!
I still think he should have gotten thru.

How can you agree with me? I'm saying he shouldn't have gotten through and you're saying he should have? That's disagree, my friend

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah
He was only unique and new sound the entire night. I could care less if he's living in a car or not, he's very talented and will hopefully do very well. I think it's BS they didn't put him through- but I'm kinda glad because now he won't be trapped in an idol web and have to sign his career away.
He didn't dismiss the band because he's cocky- he dismissed them because it's not his music! He had to choose from a list of crappy songs and sing it with a wedding band. That's not him- go on you tube- he has a bunch of videos of his songs and they are really good. I really love this kid, and I will follow his career.

Honestly i didnt even like his original audition. I didnt even think he should have been put thru to hollywood. I didnt find any appeal to his voice. The fake accent just kind of threw me. He seemed like a nice guy. Just not a good singer, imo.
same here

No way. Don't feel bad for him at all.
He was getting WAY too cocky and full of himself. Who says "I have a gut feeling they are going to say yes" when they are heading up to the "decision room"????
And "That took alot of guts" after his Stand By Me audition.
Yuck. Bad attitude, weird varying accent, annoying. Adios.
Definitely - I like how Simon put him in his place and told him that everyone had a lot of guts for getting up there.
YES!! I love that Simon said "now you are getting a little bit annoying" I wanted to him for that!
Me too!!!
I'm really horrible, too, because i didn't even believe that he was living out of his car- i thoguth he was just trying to be one of their "stories"

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah
I think his second audition was bad. And I think when he was saying it took a lot of guts, he was referring to dismissing the band. And he dismissed the band because he didnt' have a chance to practice with them and they were unable or unwilling to do the arrangement that he wanted. He did something risky and it didn't pay off. I don't think that warranted a dismissal. Randy said to one contestant, we had to look at your performances as a whole.. not just one audition. Well, two of his three auditions were phenomenal. I think he should have been put through, hands down.

Dismissing the band from the stage proved to be a very BAD move

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah
Normally, I get upset for people who I feel bad for.
But.......he is living in his car by choice. He did say that he moved out of his parents house and just drives state to state to do gigs in different bars to play his guitar and make money.
So that is the only reason why I dont feel bad.......b/c he made that choice. And he also loves doing it.
He can change that if he wants to.
On another note.......I cant beleive how many people walked out of there after being kicked off and said "Now what am I gonna do w/ my life"???? I just wonder how people dont ever have a back up especially when you are up against a ton of people?????

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah
Someone please correct me if I'm worng, b/c I may not have gotten the story right - But didn't he say he CHOSE to leave and his parents were very upset about it and begged him to come home? - He CHOSE to drop out of HS at 16, chose to live in his car, chose to just travel where life takes him gig to gig ?
I personally did not think he was any more 'talented' than the average HS kid who can carry a tune and play the piano ........Some kids blow you away with their talent and potential and range at a very young age without any training....I didn't see any of that in this kid -
Also, I know there are many stories of talented and successful people who have dropped out of school, moved from their families to pursue their dreams etc. - But those who ACTUALLY succeed after doing that are few and far between -
A 16 year old HS dropout IMO shouldn't be cast in American IDOL - If he's 'discovered' and signed and makes millions that is WONDERFUL for him, but to put him in a show like that, and basically promote the fact that he dropped out of HS, IMO is ridiculous - No one knew Jewel lived in her car until after she 'made it' - w/ this kid it was 1st thing they told you about him - It was like his defining characteristic - If I was a parent, that would seriously annoy me -

YES. That kid really bugged me. I was glad they didn't put him through, even though I feel badly that he has nowhere to go from here.
ETA: Never mind. If he chose to leave home and his parents would welcome him back, then he does have somewhere to go, and I no longer feel badly for him.

He made his own choices. He needs to live with them. The world owes him nothing. I am willing to bet his family would welcome him back if he extended himself and meet them half way.

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah
I'm surprised how many people look at this as a sympathy thing. I didn't feel bad for him, he seemed happy and was living his life, doing what he loved.
I did however think he was very talented and unique and should have made it. But I don't think it's an issue- I think he'll get signed and have a better career. He's a singer songwriter with original material- who else on that show is like that? Idol doesn't have real talent- they create plastic talent to sell records and make money. Nothing of substance underneath.
