American Idol last night - Josiah

My heart broke for that kid when they let him go. I am not sure what led them to that decision - I think he deserved a shot. He is living in his car for goodness sake...but I don't think it should have been out of pity - he is talented.

Anyone else think he should have been in?

I feel the same way as you. He wasn't the only one that screwed up at one of his auditions!

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah

Most definitely. I totally agree that he should be in. I thought he was very different and very talented. That other guy was so typical, the guy at the end with Kyle. Between him and Kyle I would have chosen Kyle, but between Josiah, Kyle and the other guy? Josiah, all the way.

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah

Yes - he was talented, but so were so many others and they were obviously limited in the numbers they had to pick, so they could only pick the best. He killed himself with that Stand By Me rendition.

I AGREE! My heart BROKE for him! Chat Icon All I kept thinking is that that poor boy was going to go back to living in his car. Chat Icon I am praying that someone big was watching and offered him a job or something.

Oh, and I was upset over Kyle too! I LOVED him!

You're right. Sayessa (I think that's how you spell it) messed up her audition because of her voice...but she still messed up!

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah

i liked josiah, but i don't think getting a shot at american idol was going to solve any of his problems - he's 17 and living in his car for goodness sake.

i didn't feel as bad for him as i thought i would, but it always bothered me that when he sang he had a british accent... he just needs to practice more and then he'll make it.

my heart broke when they let him go. I know he screwed up in Hollywood but I think he was more talented then Colton that they let through. I felt that if he didn't do the Stand By Me rendition without the band, he would have been through but still, just sad Chat Icon

I don't think that it was the fact that he screwed up as much as why he screwed up. Other people who may have messed up an initial audition really had to come through the second time, or they would have not been chosen. I think that the judges were very taken aback by his over-confidence in the whole dismissing the band thing and then having a positively horrible audition. I definitely think that rubbed them the wrong way and that is why he was not chosen.

No way. Don't feel bad for him at all.

He was getting WAY too cocky and full of himself. Who says "I have a gut feeling they are going to say yes" when they are heading up to the "decision room"????

And "That took alot of guts" after his Stand By Me audition.

Yuck. Bad attitude, weird varying accent, annoying. Adios.

Ok...I was HYSTERICAL CRYING.

My heart broke for this kid. Some of those other ones deserved to be there more than him???? I am not too sure about that.

I know thats not what its really about BUT they couldnt give the kid a break. Who knows what it would have led to for him. Did you see how he had NO ONE throughout the entire process?????? I dont know..I just think it was so unfair. I wish he could come back somehow, like a wild card or something. But I know they dont do that anymore. It just really, really upset me. Chat Icon

Definitely - I like how Simon put him in his place and told him that everyone had a lot of guts for getting up there.

I disagree - did I feel bad for him as a 17 year old living in his car - absolutely. But does that mean that he should continue on with a singing competition - no. There were plenty of "sob stories" that AI likes to play up - the single dad with the son, the girl with the disabled child - neither of them went through and to be honest, I thought that they were both better than Josiah.

YES!! I love that Simon said "now you are getting a little bit annoying" I wanted to Chat Icon him for that!

The term "That took alot of guts" is never something someone should say about themselves...

I agree. He thought he was so awesome and wanted to do it in his own way and wouldn't work at all with the band, so he dismissed them like some kind of diva. The judges did not like that a bit. If he had been great at that last audition and justified his actions, then the outcome probaby woud have been different, but he suc*ked.

I think everyone took the guts thing the wrong way. I think he meant performing without the band because they kept referring to that..

Also...I think the show puts a spin on everything. They edit and edit again. They knew people thought he was over confident. They knew people thought he was getting cocky...it was the whole thing between him and Simon. We dont know how many people said they had a good feeling they were getting through...we dont know how many people said they thought they were going to say yes. We only know HE said that because thats what they chose to air to fit into the whole being over confident thing..KWIM?

I dont know..I just think going to the top 24 would have helped in some way. And he definately needs it.

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah

Noreen - totally understand what you're saying - they very well could have edited out things other contestants said - but regardless - he made a really bad decision dismissing the band, he royally s*cked at his audition, and at the risk of sounding like a b1tch - it's not a charity show.

I felt bad for the kid too when I was watching last night. But then I remembered that he chose to live in his car. I don't think his parents kicked him out or anything. Maybe this will make him realize that he needs to go back home and wait a bit before pursuing his career. He did get pretty cocky there too. This might be the reality check he needed.

Not at all. I really liked his audition with his keyboard, but he screwed up with not rehearsing with the band enough (even the musical director offered at 4 in the morning to go over it with him again). And then, to ask them to leave and then NOT do it well... I lost interest. I guess I'm cruel! Chat Icon

WHaaa I had alot of guts.
I kind of felt bad at first. I really liked him. Then it all went to his head.

Something different, he was cute and he had an interesting story.

I didn't know anything about the other kid so it was hard for me to say who was better. That is the hard part.
They focus on certain people and you don't even know who they are when they show you the top 24.

Josiah will be ok. I think someone will find him and give him a break.
Hopefully!

Re: American Idol last night - Josiah

Honestly i didnt even like his original audition. I didnt even think he should have been put thru to hollywood. I didnt find any appeal to his voice. The fake accent just kind of threw me. He seemed like a nice guy. Just not a good singer, imo.
