Naval ring and PG?

Do any of you have a belly button ring - if so did you take it out when you found out you were pg? I really need to figure this one out. I'm 9 weeks and starting to show Chat Icon

I had a friend who kept hers in for the entire pregnancy.

What to do? Chat Icon

Re: Naval ring and PG?

Took mine out at 4 months pg with my first. I'm so glad i did, that area got so sore so quickly with both pgs. Around where my belly ring was the only spot I got stretch marks. Now i wish i never pierced it.

ETA: My doc scared me by telling me that if i didn't take it out by about 5 months pg, my growing belly could push it out or it could have to be cut out cause it will be too tight to take out any other way. That was enough for meChat Icon

Re: Naval ring and PG?

I think it depends on the person, the piercing and the belly growth since everyone is different. I am 21w and my barbell is still in there. If I think I am stretching and it is going to cause a problem, I will obviously take it out. I think I may have to since it is deeper than most. Some people are able to make it through the entore PG without removing theirs and others get uncomfortable early on...your body will tell you what to do. Chat Icon

Once you get admitted to L&D all jewelry must come off regardless of where it is in the event of an emergency c-sect. You are not allowed to have any metal on your body in the OR.

My OB made me take mine out at around 6 months. It was annoying anyways because my pants were rubbing against it. They have a pregnancy piercing thing but it didn't work for me. I put my barbell back in 3 days after I gave birth Chat Icon

Re: Naval ring and PG?

I had a friend that kept it in the entire time.
I had one years ago and there is a scar from where it was, my DR thought i took it out b/c i got pg and he said- you should have left it in. it had been gone long before that anyway.
Its up to you, leave it for as long as you feel comfortable.

I had one that I took out a few years before I got pregnant, but I just have to say that I would take it out if I still had it in. Now that Im nearing the end, my belly button is so extemely sore and tight...my dr. said that since that is where the skin is the thinnest it hurts the most...the thought of having a piercing still in there is so disturbing to me....I think it may have popped out on its own. You can see my piercing holes now and thats right where it hurts even though I havent had it in in a few years.

Re: Naval ring and PG?

I took mine out at 9-10 weeks. My belly expanded pretty early also and my belly buttin went from inny to flat at that point, so I took it out. I know someone who left it i n the entire time and it was not pretty Chat Icon

Re: Naval ring and PG?

I took mine out because I saw someone's scar from not taking theirs out and it tearing. It freaked me out so I decided to remove mine.
