My engagement ring is missing... I am devastated...small update - I searched everywhere
I took it off last night before Cailen's bath - I put my e-ring and my wedding ring always together - always in one of 2 places - either on this shelf in the bathroom, or in a little tin near my bed....
This morning I was feeling crappy, and wasnt going to wear either ring, but I always like to wear my wedding band... Sometimes the e-ring takes a few pushes to get on, so I held it in my hand, and then put it back down on the shelf...
Tonight, I was going to take off my wedding band to wash my face, and take both rings and put them in the tin....
And I noticed it was gone... I looked all over the bathroom, the little tin, my jewelry box, everywhere....
It was 300 dollars at Macys. It had a sapphire on it and it was tiny and simple and perfect...
I have this heart sinking feeling my stepdaughter took it - she was in the bathroom tonight.
Over the weekend, I noticed one of my mac eyeshadows missing. I always wear these 2 colors together, and I'm anal about keeping them in the same bag. My stepdaughter babysat Cailen while we went out for my bday Fri night, and the next morning, i noticed one of my eyeshadows was missing.
I would NEVER ever take one without the othere - ever.
DH searched my stepdaughter and came up with nothing.
My ring is gone, and I have never misplaced it ever.
And with everything else we have on our plates, we will never be able to spend money on a ring again And eve if we did, it wouldnt be THAT ring. The ring we were so happy to find for so little money. The one that DH used to surprise me on the beach after I knew he bought it, but didnt know when he would pop the question.
The one that the firefly landed on after he proposed to me, and we were sure it was the spirit of his best friend who died the month earlier...
I am so heartbroken...

OH NO...I'm so sorry..I  it wasn't taken by your stepdaughter and was just misplaced. Many that it just "turns up" some how.

Oh Liza, I'm so sorry. An eye shadow is one thing, but do you really think she would take your ring, because that's absolutely HORRIBLE! Now that she's been confronted about it, I hope it "turns up" when she starts to feel guilty.

Oh no...so sorry that is happening. Can you speak with your stepdaughter. Just mention that you think you have misplaced it and ask if she could help look for it? Hope it turns up!

aww, Liza, it will pop up when youre not thinking about it.  
try to take some time away from everything (well of course you cant run or hide, but you get the picture  )
maybe relax and read or study, and when youre more calm and not thinking of a million things, hopefully you will find the ring.

I kept telling DH, (who woke up when he heard me panicking and fumbling thru everything) that I could never believe she owuld take it - but she was the only one in the bathroom that night!!!
and I always have my ring in the same place!!!!
I searched the whole bathroom... Got on the floor, took apart the radiator... searched thru my entire messy night table...
But this never happened before...

Oh, Liza- I have no words- you have had enough tramua for one person lately.
I think a little guilt tripping is in order. I would say all the things you said here in front of her- make her realize that she is hurting you. Underneath evil teenage angst is some feelings- you just have to access them. Let me know if you want some help.

OMG-I am so sorry that you can't find your ring. Whenever I lose something I pray to St. Anthony and it always turns up. I hope you find it real soon.

Her dad crying to her about her cutting classes and not graduating did nothing. She was grounded for over a year and wasnt allowed at her best friends sweet 16. She is very aloof and would never cave abuot my ring. If she took it, its as good as gone forever...

She's a tough one then. My next suggestion is that you tell her you are going to contact the police and file a report. Point out that they will dust for fingerprints... Try fear...

I am so sorry....it is the worst feeling to lose something so important and not be able to do anything about it. i know it sounds absolutely ridiculous but whenever i lose something, my mother, who is a devout catholic tells me to say a prayer to St. Anthony and it sometimes works-SO i will say one for your ring!
hope it turns up somewhere and soon!
edited to add that i really hope your stepdaughter didn't do something like this and if she did, i hope she comes around,,,,
