RSV question

a baby girl at my dd's daycare left early to go to the dr because she was throwing up, and the dr said she has RSV. The baby will not be going back to daycare for a few days. DD has been there all week with this baby and i'm worried she will get it now. May be a dumb question, but is there anything i could at this point to try and prevent her from getting it? :(

RSV question

RSV is most contagious 48 hours before the symptoms show up- there is not much you can do to prevent her from getting it if she has been exposed. My dd was diagnosed with RSV+ broncholitis last Wednesday. She was VERY sick while the other children she was with all developed cold symptoms--just because she was exposed doesn't mean she will get sick and if she gets sick it could be mild. Good luck.

Not to say that it can't be very serious but I've also seen kids test positive for it that had mild cold symptoms and were barely sick. So it's doesn't necessarily have to be awful.

Ugh, well that sucks. You can't do anything to prevent it at this point, but there is no guarantee your DD will get it, especially at that age when they aren't mobile/touching each other.

Yes this.
I know it's very serious in preemies and children who are immuno-compromised or have other issues, but a lot of times a healthy child will just display cold symptoms

Same thing happened with my twins at 12 months old. They were very sick and the other kids they were with only developed cold symptoms. One came down with a bad cough and ever and the mom told the dr he was exposed to RSVP and his test came back negative. She could just develop a slight cold or she could get nothing. Good luck!!
