To those who gave me hope, thank you, as far as the rest of you I can't believe there are really people that mean out there that would rip someone apart and make them feel worse than they already do. I have had enough of this site so if you have nothing better to do than beat on people when they're at their lowest point do it to someone else, I am canceling my membership. I don't need people like you in my life. God loves everyone what makes you a better judge of people than him I hope your happy with yourselves. Now it's time to leave me alone, Go piss on someone elses heartache

Not everyone feels as some of the others have stated. As a matter of fact with the exception of a few people - most are showing kindness The others have just been burned in the past so they are skeptical. Please take care of yourself and your child and keep us updated. I really do hope and pray that everything works out for you. I wish I had better advice. Stay strong

Call Catholic Charities-they will provide an apartment and pay your rent, whether you are Catholic or not. Wishing you the best.

I also agree with contacting Catholic Charities. Maybe you can make an appt. and go in person to discuss your situation.
So sorry, I believe you are legit. I wish I could help too. I know it is very hard on Long Island. Wishing you and your son the best.

Marian what about the school social worker where your son goes to school? There are so many students who are in need of some type of housing assistance where I work, and the school has been an excellent resource. Please try giving the district a call if the other suggestions don't work out for you. If I think of anything else I will post again.

She has asked for nothing, no need for anyone to get crazy and beat someone while they are down.

I wasn't going to even go back on this site it had me crying all night last night, I already was feeling so hopeless, and I thank you for trying to help but I already have been going to Catholic Charities in Medford for counseling for a few years now, She did put me in a form SPA for disability housing but that could take a very long time. I found the other site of Catholic Charites that hep people but they told me all they could do is issue me a check for the 1st months rent only, The Catholic Charities down south, does offer housing I forgot what state it was but I do remember it one of those states that get tornadoes and that scared me to death. I also spoke to the school social worker and they said if they heard of anything they would let me know but also suggested I go into a shelter. and I told you about that. But LIRascal, love the name by the way, what school do you work for and I will try calling the district, thank you

OP, I'm very sorry that some people are being so rude to you. Some people don't know how to keep quiet if they have nothing nice to say. Don't let it chase you away from a place where people are offering support and guidance.
It sounds like you received some wonderful advice here, and I would definitely check with local churches. They can likely put you in contact with even more resources.

I would like to thank you all for the advice, I will call the school district tomorrow, However, I found a place that said they would accept my son in Farmigdale, I went yesterday and back today to drop off some papers then something happened that gave me chills. WHO BELIEVES IN DIVINE INTERVENTION? when I got home today, I was so worn down and sat on the couch and prayed, I said to God , I'm to tired to go on I"ve been working so hard everyday to find a place for my son ans I to live, I can't do this anymore I'm too tired, I then fell asleep on the couch and woke up from a horrible nightmare that took me quite some time to wake up from it. I checked my phone and saw a message from someone I didn't know, It was an older man named Pat, he lives in Lindenhurst where I really wanted to move back to, He said he heard I was looking for an apartment and knew I had a child, he he offered me the apartment and I am going to see it on Saturday, Hopefully it works out the only hitch is that it's not available till Sept 1st . But the whole thing gave me chills . I have to believe that when I truly put it back in God's hands , he answered my prayers, Wish me luck , I'm still not sure if I can stay here till then but I'll manage. just knowing I will have a place to live, I know I will sleep great tonight

By the way, do you or your son need any items? Clothes, house wares? Even school supplies? Once you guys get settled, I mean. Let us know. Willing to help what I can. I know it's rough and many of us here on LI are just one streak of bad luck away from ending in your place. People forget that. But there are good people willing to help.

What a great update. It just goes to show that there are still good people out there. September isn't all that far away, I'm sure you can make it work if you know you have a safe, comfortable place to move to in a month.

Thank you all, I'm not sure what I will need. I have some stuff I brought up from my home I use to have in Florida. I may need help with clothes or school supplies . I"m going to wait until I see the place Saturday, If It's Ok and we agree on it. I was going to get the supply list from the school and give it to my church to see if they can help. As far as clothing, I know I had to buy him new summer clothes this year , I have to see how much he has grown before I know what he needs for school. last year, he grew 5" in 2 months and at the end of 6th grade he wore a 6 1/2 in boys shoes but started 7th with a 9" in mens. I"m not used to the boy thing and growing spurts, I have been the same height and shoe size since 7th grade myself. Thank you for offering, I will let you know when I see if what I have fits into the apt Thank you again for all your support
