When did your sore nipples/breasts get better?
I have a 3 week old (tomorrow) and I am EBF on demand (starting to pump once a day tomorrow to build my stash and increase my supply for work). While not at all excruciating, I am finding BFing fairly painful. I keep searching for a cause/reason, and even met with an LC and had the ped check DS's mouth for tongue and lip ties. All is well. Is this just par for the course? When can I expect it to calm down?

It gets better- maybe around a month?
One thing I always tried to do- latching hurts especially in the beginning. Count to 5 and if it still hurts, unlatch him and start again. It's probably a bad latch and will just destroy you.

Yes, par for the course I think. I breastfed two kids and had it for both in the beginning. Then one day it just doesn't hurt anymore. Crazy how quickly we forget but I'd say you're coming up to that point of relief! Good luck!!

If his latch is good, it should get better within a month. If his latch isn't correct, they will stay chapped and even sore. I know if DD doesn't latch correctly for one feeding, I will get sore and it might even scab.

I'm not sure if I just got lucky, but I never had any pain. I was really good about making sure I put on lanolin after every single feeding in the beginning. I kept a few tubes in different places so that it was easy to grab one. I hope it gets better for you soon!

Ugh, it was AWFUL until about week 6... the pain was excruciating... At DS's 6 week appt the Ped (also a lactation consultant) said to do a nipple shield, just for the weekend. I tried one feeding with it, DS hated it so much he pulled off, perfected his latch and didn't hurt me ever again

Definitely around 4-6 weeks. It was terribly painful those first few weeks! Then, like everyone else said, it just stops hurting one day. You are in the home stretch!

I would cringe every time I breast fed for about a month or month and a half. I would put a little breast milk on my sore nipples after each feed and it got better eventually. You can do it! Hang in there
