4 year old tantrums

Does anyone elses 4 year old still have tantrums or just mine?? He had a fit today because he didnt want to leave his grandmothers house -- screaming, crying, going limp, the whole bit. He was grumpy at school the other day because he was tired. He threw his slippers at me (soft ones mind you but still threw them nonetheless) because he couldnt play with his trucks.

Sometimes I worry that somethings wrong. Should I talk to the ped or is this a 4 year old that will eventually grow out of it...soon?!?!

Totally normal.. or if it isn't than my 4yr old DS is abnormal. Although sometimes I think he is... Chat Icon

Kidding!

Tantrums aren't as bad as they were at 3, but he still gets cranky. Sometimes moody for school. Last time was he just wasn't in the mood to play soccer so he cried and I told him he won't get to play on the playground after if he kept it up. Needless to say he didn't get to go play on the playground after soccer.
Oh, and some mornings he's just moody. I think more so bc I carry his brother downstairs in the morning and he wants to be carried.
I think it's a tough age for them too. They are growing up more and want to try new things, but still so young too. One moment they're independent and doing new "big kid" stuff and the next they just want to cry and be with mommy or have a tantrum over something stupid. Chat Icon

Right there with you. DS was 4 on the 6th. His tantrums are not as frequent as when he was 3 bc you can reason with him more but some days they are absurd. Seems to be common.
