really dumb question about newborn clothing
I had a winter baby so this might not help. My DS was in the sleep and play footie one piece things all the time. He would be wrapped in a blanket when we went out but never anything heavier.
My DS was a hot baby and would sweat all the time.
I would kind of play it by ear depending on the weather. I felt the one piece outfits were the easiest cause I didn't have to think about socks or anything!

Primiarly footies and onesies. You'll also want some sleep sacks.

Re: really dumb question about newborn clothing
onsies, gowns, sleepers.
my son was born in may and we usually put him in a onsie (long or short sleeve depending on temp) and then just swaddled him. made for easy changes.
ETA - he was born 5/6 and it was COLD the first few weeks. temps in the 50's.

really dumb question about newborn clothing
I had my daughter the first weekmof September and it was hot. I had her in long sleeve strechies and swalded because ac was constantly on and even put a cotton hat on at night. If it is warm I would be shortsleeve stretchy but make sure feet are covered. Btw this is not a dumb question at all I was totally clueless in the begining

Re: really dumb question about newborn clothing
I had her in onesies most of the time. I swear for the first month or so she lived in them and footsies. My friend had to remind me that she had other clothes other than those. All you wind up doing is feeding changing and putting them to sleep anyway.

Re: really dumb question about newborn clothing
My dd lives in sleep and plays (footies pjs). Just a tip when you go to your first dr visit I would put them in a once piece zip up because I had the hardest time dressing dd when she was a newborn. After my fist visit I swore I would only put dd in sleep and plays when she went to the dr and I was glad I did do I could dress her quickly after a shot and sooth her

Re: really dumb question about newborn clothing
DD was born in October and we had her in the sleep and plays footie PJs. DH still wants to keep her in those constantly. They are definitely great for the Dr visits!
You may want to get some of the footie PJs and also some short sleeve onesie. I'm thinking if it's warm your AC may be on making it comfy for you, chilly for baby so you can always swaddle over the onsie.

really dumb question about newborn clothing
I had my DS at the end of August. Even though it was warm out I always had him in long sleeve footie sleep and plays with a white onesie underneath. We had the ac on or the windows open so I wanted to make sure he was warm enough. At night I even put a little hat on him if we had the AC on in our room! I used the swaddle me blankets at night to swaddle him and the Aden and Anais blankets during the day.

soo true! Do you know which are the best besides the zipper ones..the magnetic ones. OMG those are the best. They would close soo quickly. The button ones are horrible when you are half awake.

Re: really dumb question about newborn clothing
DD was born 4/27. I always had her in onsies with the footie sleepers on top. babyGap had super cute ones that zipped up which I loved because it was cute enough to be an outfit not a pj. When it got way warmer I had her in leggings and socks with a onsie or little dresses.
