I just had to add...that my first child didn't have a brain..they should have (and normally do) found out at 12 weeks, but didn't.
So please, go to another OB, because she should know that if she had done a sono for those other people, they may have known sooner.

Switch doctors! Please! How could she not even mention the NT Scan to you? Some doctors don't do them in the office, like mine, but I was sent out for it and I see that doctor for my sonograms.
I don't care if she had a bad day, see someone else.

Just a quick update.
I spoke to my RE and told her all about it. She was really apologetic for recommending this OB to me. She said that the OB is not normally like this, but understood my complaints and wont recommend her to her clients any more.
She recommended a new OB (who actually delivered my RE's kids). Hopefully this one will work out much better!
Also, scheduled my NT. Super nervous about that one!!

I agree with just about everyone. You are going to be dealing with this office regularly, and when you're freaking out and when you need information. Doesn't sound like they are pleasant or accomodating. I would skip them and go elsewhere.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. It should NOT go this way.

Imo the bad attitude and crazy sono policy have nothing to do with one another AND I think either is reason to find a new OB. I don't want to say something morbid like the dr. did but if there IS god forbid a problem u don't want to first find out at ur 20 week if it could have been seen sooner! I have never heard of such a sono policy!

She is an Ob here in Chicago. If this was a LI doctor, I'd happily give you all her name!

This should be the most amazing experience you will ever feel and this "doctor" is completely out of line

And even if she was only this rude because of her grief, I would not want to have to see a doctor (especially for a pregnancy- such an exciting time- no less!) who is that emotionally and psychologically un-self aware to be able to keep themselves or check, or realize that they need more time off to grieve.
My advice? Find someone else ASAP!!!! Obviously she can't separate her personal issues from her professional life. What if she has another bad day the day you go into labor??? I don't mean to sound unsympathetic for her loss but I wouldn't trust someone like that delivering my baby.

WOW! I'm sorry but no matter what someone is going through it doesn't give them to right to be nasty or "not in the mood".... I'm so sorry you are dealing with this.. I would mention it to your RE and perhaps look for a new doctor..

stick with your gut. This is not right. Leave now. I keeped making excuses on why I was not happy at my OB at 37 weeks I had to find a new one and it was not easy. Please do what you already know is right and leave.
