Re: How emotional are you
I'm ok with most stuff. I was a little ansy when Sparky had to stay overnight. Still I ended up being the one to make the 'decision' to put him out of his misery. My hubby was a mess.
Still I think I am pretty emotional - I just don't show it the same way. Instead I get very professional and want all the knowledge about what's going on and extra. How common is it, how did it happen, how can it be avoided, etc..

Re: How emotional are you
I'm pretty loco when it comes to my two cats, Norton and Trixie. They are my first babies. I felt 9 months of heavy guilt leading up to my son being born. And another 5 leading up to this day because they have to share me with him now and I feel terrible about it. My worst fear is that my son could potentially be allergic to them. I cry at the thought on a daily basis. In addition, I also cry at the thought of them dying. I tell my husband all the time that he will need to committ me that day. I love them beyond words.

I too go to the vet with a LIST Of questions whenever something is wrong or has to be done. My vet is so patient and kind, answer every single one.
My vet and the staff treat me better than my own dr does, calling me right back whenever I have a concern etc. I sent my vet's office a huge basket of goodies for the holidays to thank them b/c I know they are so good with me and my dogs when I/they have a problem.
I too cried when I brought my dogs in for spay/neuter surgery. So sad to hand them over...so heartbreaking. Dh and I always say we will be devastated when their time comes. DH says they're never gonna die. He has never experienced the loss of a pet, these are his first and I dread that day...for him, for me..

Re: How emotional are you
I get SO emotional about my cats, and anybody's pet. When I realize they're getting older, I get upset and worry about when "that day" finally comes. Honestly, I rarely even come to this board because I dread seeing the posts with the sad face next to it. I'm crying right now reading/typing this.

Re: How emotional are you
I can be very emotional. I will never forget the day my mom called me to tell me our lab passed away.(I was moved out by then, but, he was still "my" lab) I cried my eyes out..even called in late to work. Couldn't get a grip.
The other day, I saw the DH had left our side door open. I asked him "Umm hon, I hope you didn't let the cat out"..Well, we couldn't find him for about 20mins. I was a mess. We finally found him in our guest room all snuggled up on the bed. The room is also used for storage and the door is always closed, but, DH went to put something in there and didn't realize Simba followed.

Re: How emotional are you
I get WAY too emotional about my cat- it really isn’t good. When she was just a baby we took her for her first shots and being that she is NOT good with strangers or being held down against her will etc, she was making the most god awful screams I have ever heard come from an animal. I was so hysterical that the vet made me leave the room because he said I was upsetting the kitten even more…and my hubby stayed in there. Afterwards he brought her out and she was 100% fine but I just couldn’t stop crying and shaking. I felt like an emotional mess. And that was just shots! And anytime I read anything about animals getting sick, dying, or having to be put down, I cry my eyes out. I don’t even want to THINK about what will happen when the day comes that she is no longer with me…. Pets are great and bring so much joy- but they also bring so much sadness when things happen….

Re: How emotional are you
our boy just got neutered and i was a mess when we picked him up. they handed him to me and he wimpered a little and i started hysterical crying. when we spoke with the vet, he was like oh your sad? I was like, oh it's just allergies, hehe. it's really embarrasing. His neutering is infected and I worry about him all day long. At night, I can't sleep cause I think he will be dead when I wake up. i'm a mess with him, i really can't handle him being hurt.

I am the worst. I am always crying in the vet's office. The receptionist brings in tissues when she puts us in an exam room.

Re: How emotional are you
I love my doggie!! I have a jack russell terrier and she is so hyperactive at times. She has so much life and engery it's amazing. She brings me comfort and when I am down in the dumps she is too. When I think about her passing away in the future of old age, it makes me sad. It will be like losing someone in the family.

Re: How emotional are you
Well.... You all probably know my emotional level from my very first post I was a mess when the whole thing happened with Jewelz and I thought we would never hold her again.
Last week when Liberty was laying in her own puke I cried when my husband carried her out to take her to the doggie ER.
My dogs are such a big part of our family they come to our friends with us and we have even taken summer vacations with them.
So to sum it up yes I am a big cry baby when it comes to my dogs!!!

Re: How emotional are you
extremely!!!!! We got our hamster Willie in 05 when DH was in Iraq. Right before my wedding in 06 he was bleeding when he would pee. I put him in a shoebox with some cotton and cederchips and took him around the corner to the vet. It turned out that he had a UTI and gave me antibotics and yogurt to give to him in a syringe. I would always give him his meds even though he would fight me with the antibotics because he wanted no part of that. He loved his yogurt though. He recovered and was as good as new.
This past Sunday, Willie crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge and it broke my heart. I'm still a complete mess. I miss that long haired hairball so much. DH doesn't know what to do with me. When I got married, Willie stayed with my parents and I went to see him every week. Now there is like this huge void in the living room. He didn't get to enjoy the chew toys I bought him this Christmas and not mention he didn't get to watch the Mets on the HD on my dad's new TV. Yes, he was a Mets fan and would always watch the game with my dad.
I don't know if we're getting a new hamster because Willie was just one of a kind. Hard to replace
