Worst job interview *Update
UPDATE:
So I got an email from the guy this morning thanking me for my interest in the position and he is sorry for the disappointing news and he wished me luck in my job search.
All I can do right now is laugh.......I just got home from an interview where I walked out before we even got started. We agreed to meet at the time the office opened even though I asked if they wanted me to come in a little later to allow them to get settled. I was assured the time was fine. I get there and one of the other interviewers said the main guy wasn't in yet he had me scheduled for 30 min later( no big deal even though i expressed this concern when i set up the interview). The main guy gets in and introduces himself and you can tell he is annoyed I'm there already. He tells me has has some stuff to follow up on and he'll be back.
Then the other interviewer came back in with an application for me to fill out and then disappears. I sit there for 10 min waiting for him to come back. The main guy comes by and asks if I'm finished and I told him I was. Then he asks if I told anyone I was done. I said no I thought the other guy was coming back in and I don't know where anyone is. He said well you could have gone to any of the offices.......at that point i was fed up and said I don't think this is going to work. I asked him as I was walking toward him if he needed the application I filled out. He said no and then follows it by saying I don't want to see your face.
First off who just randomly goes walking around a potential employers office looking for people? Every interview I've ever been on the person has always come back to check on me. Secondly who speaks like that to people? I'm glad to have found this out prior to going any further. Can't even imagine working for someone like that.
Anyone have any horror stories?

OMG, that is nuts! I would have been looking for the cameras for Candid Camera or "What Would you Do". That guy is going to have a hard time filling his positions if that is his general attitude.

Re: Worst job interview
yikes!!
that's horrible... but also a bit funny. so happy you saw through their stupidity and decided to walk away. too many people come across as desperate during an interview, that they probably felt they can do whatever they want with you and your time.

Omg. That is so crazy. Thank goodness they showed you their true colors. He sounds like one of those bosses that expect you to be a mind reader.

Worst job interview
That's awful! One time I went on an interview at the end of the day. It was a 5:00 appointment. Something had come up and the interviewer had to handle something else before getting started. There was another girl who was there to interview before me. We sat in the lobby for an hour waiting! They finally came and got the other girl, who was back there for another hour. I should have left, but I was very interested in the position...
Finally that other girl left, and she smirked at me on the way out, which I didn't know how to take. I go back to finally interview, which was very casual and weird, but took about another hour, only to be told at the very end that she hired the girl that went before me but wanted to meet with me as a "courtesy". I was like WTF????

Re: Worst job interview
Omg, that's terrible! Is this at a big company, or small?
I once had to interview with 6 people, some via phone. Two people canceled, so I had 30-minute breaks in my 3-hour stretch being there. It was awful.
But after my final interview, which was my phone, they told me to wait and someone would come get me to walk me out. After 15 minutes I tried to find someone, but I was on a side of the office under construction and there was literally nobody there. I had been there forever and just wanted to leave! So i found my way to the elevator and left. I didn't get the offer, nor would I have accepted it. Years later I was called to interview for another job and it was the same person (different company) who had scheduled those crazy interviews years before. I declined the interview. I would never work for her. Burning bridges works both ways! She burned this one for me.

That was very unprofessional, not to mention stupid of them, to make an offer to someone when they still had to interview someone else. What if you were 10 times better than that girl? What if you were PERFECT for the job? They had no idea who you were. They should have at least waited to interview you before making someone an offer. Who even makes an offer on an interview? Seems very unprofessional

Re: Worst job interview
Oh my goodness! I can't believe a potential employer would act like that. You're better off finding something else.
I actually have some horror stories from the side of the interviewer: I spent 3 weeks interviewing candidates for a now filled position in my office. I had the following:
- an individual clearly under the influence of drugs. - an individual who states they "are sick and tired of working with people who don't look like them and don't speak English", and that they are "looking to work with people who are from here". I was the entire time.
- an individual who specified they only wanted to work part time and needed to make less than a certain amount, so they could continue to claim their benefits, despite me confirming with them that this was a full time position paying a certain salary.
- and 4 no shows

I always love the ones who come dressed like they are going to run errands on a Saturday or go wash their car. WHO as a grown asss adult doesn't know how to dress appropriately for an interview? I mean, come on. It's not hard. And comb your hair.
I once had someone say their weak point was working with others and teamwork- when the job was clearly described as a team environment and customer service heavy.

Worst job interview
Was this in Eastern Suffolk by any chance?
I would look up the company on glassdoor.com and see what the reviews are. People reviews jobs but also interviews. I would post about your awful experience to warn others.

Worst job interview
I once interviewed someone - interview was just ok, nothing mind blowing. But when she sent us all a follow up thank you email - it was written in a rainbow colored word art with nothing except "Thank you". Yeah, that seems super professional!
My one bad experience looking for a job was right when I got out of college. It was a company that did lighting for concerts and shows in Atlanta and I would have been the gofer. I wasn't crazy about the job and all the driving I would have to do in my own car, but I wanted to be in the entertainment industry and I thought it'd be a good stepping stone. They called me on a Wednesday and said I had the job, but had to start on Monday (I lived 2 hours away). I told him I wasn't sure I could be there by then b/c I would have to find a place to live and move there, and they said they'd give me until Friday to tell them if I could do it. I busted my hump trying to find a place to live and work out the details. When I called back Friday around noon, he said he'd already given the job to someone else! Arsehole!

Super unprofessional! Also, it was for an HR Manager position, which I saw re-posted a couple of months later. And no, I didn't re-apply!

Yes, thankfully I did! I saw the guy years later at my job (video editing) and he was such a tool to work with. I was pissed about what happened but I definitely dodged a bullet by not going to work for him!

these kinds of stories are what gives me confidence when i go on interviews. if even a quarter of my competition is on drugs/not wearing a suit/blatantly racist/unusual scheduling requests for a full time job then i'm wayyy ahead of the game!

Worst job interview
I interviewed one person that told me had horrible time management skills and needs a secretary in order to keep him on time to goto meetings, appointments, etc.
It was a Skype interview, and also at one point in the background a dude walked by with no shirt on and made breakfast.
At that point I wanted to hire breakfast dude instead, at least he doesn't need a secretary to make him breakfast. And he was shirtless.
