With joy...I can finally introduce...
"OUR" English Bulldog Sarge -- or Sergeant Taz, as he is known on the "beat" --
Sarge (formerly known as Taz) came into our life in February. My DH and I wanted an English Bulldog, but the heartstings were pulled towards rescuing a dog.
In December, we submitted an application with an English Bully rescue group. They are very selective - and are very concerned with how the DOG will be in your home -- they want the perfect fit. In February, Sarge came into their rescue network and had some socialization issues with other dogs - not all - but certain dogs. They asked if we would foster him (after our thorough background, house, interview check) since we did not have another dog. He's a 3 year old pure-bred English Bully.
Three days into coming into our home, we realized that Sarge was not doing well -- he was regurgitating his food and we spent from February to the beginning of June bringing him to various vets to get a diagnosis.
We helped him tremendously by giving him water out of a bottle (the one on the crate), feeding him on the second stair (with his hind legs on the ground) and giving him puppy food to gain weight.
Finally with the help of a drug called Reglan, Sarge has been keeping down his food and slowly gaining weight. He went from 41 pounds to 46 pounds - which is great! He still has megaesphogus, but they believe it is congential and with our management, he has been free of regurgiating for almost three weeks!
I've hesitated posting because we didn't know if they would pick us to keep him but just today I got the "official" word! (ETA I'm a worry-wart, there were no concern! LOL) Yay! So - here are some more photos of Sarge! And I am so happy to join this board!
