Lin, just to add to what others have said - Luca was really, really good with the pincer grasp right away but it was a LONG time before I could give him bigger pieces because he had trouble with the concept of biting off smaller pieces to eat - he would try to shove the whole thing in his mouth Chat Icon You'll get a better feel for what John can do once he starts eating table foods regularly.

It seems like my doctor gave me the most strict list I've seen on here.

between 7-10 months
I was told to introduce chicken, veal, lamb but NO beef, pork products.

yogurt
pastina

egg yolk
followed by scrambled eggs
then waffles, pancakes

I feel clueless about this table foods thing, so I dont mind a list. A lthough I think it's inhibited me from trying new things.

I've been making her meals out of baby cookbooks, but Im tired of chicken. She must be sick of it.

Next appt today, hoping for a new list.

I totally understand where you are coming from! DS is just about 5 months and we started him on baby food (the purees) at 4 months. He totally "got" eating right away and definitely was ready. While I don't think DS is ready for table foods yet, I definitely want to try to give some fruits and veggie that are more mashed and not pureed - like bananas, avocados, sweet potatos - so that he can get ready for table foods.

But honestly, I have given DS a few small pieces of food off my plate Chat Icon

I think that you know your son best and if you think he is ready for some table food, then you should try Chat Icon You don't have to stop the pureed food altogether, but can slowly try to introduce certain table foods and see how he does.
