While We're All TTC
Have any of you had discussions with DH about names?? Have you gotten into any arguments??
DH refuses to consider any name other than his very own for a boy. Frankly, I hate DH's given name. He has a nickname that I (and every single family member and friend) use instead.
Anybody else having this issue???

DH isn't thrilled with my girl name (Sophie) but, if I ever have a little girl, that's her name. I've dreamt about a Sophie one day. If he hated it, I would obviously reconsider, but I think it's more a name he needs to get used to.
I've made the compromise that he can pick a boy's name so that's our deal. I trust that he would pick a name I would like.

We disagree mostly about boys names, i dont like the ones he likes: devin, cooper, ethan, and preston
I like the names max, sam, james, and william
but we just recently agreed on tyler
We both like lucy for a girl. We are way ahead of ourselves with names.

We've been discussing names for the past few months but won't start TTC until next year. It helps me cope with the waiting part. We agreed that DH will choose the name if it's a boy and I will choose the name if it's a girl. But we will consider each other's opinions in the process. We have agreed on a girl name: Kaitlyn Marie or Katie Marie.

We've been discussing names since before we got married. Recently we both fell in love with Madison....except one of my best friends just found out she is having a girl and told me that is the name she wants to use. Considering she is due in July and I am not even pregnant yet: she wins.
We also like for a girl:
Chelsea Lynn
Gabriella Rose
(I love Sophia and he doesn't)
For boys:
Connor John
(I like Lucas and he doesn't)
Who knows what will change once we actually get pregnant!

We have a double whammy issue.
We have to name names we like in English and names that honor deceased loved ones in Hebrew.
Technically the Hebrew names are the ones that matter - where the honor is. But the problem come sinto play when you choose WHICH family member gets named for and do they get a first name or a middle name.
There is no question that our first child, whether boy or girl will be named for my father in Hebrew. My father's first name is identifiably Russian as is my married last name. Both mine and DH's family have roots in Russia, but we both agree that to tag a child with such an ethnically identifiable name could be more of a curse than a celebration of heritage. We also feel that we have no ties to Russia so it makes no sense.
We both agree that Old Testament Bible or Hebrew names easily translated into English names are the way to go.
My front runners:
Abigail
Rachel
Rebecca
Sarah
Ruth (as a middle name only)
Ariel
Adina/Idina
Tamar
Jacob
Jesse
Aaron
Adam
David
Joseph
Samuel (to be called Sam)
ETA:
Middle names are dependent on who we need to name for on DH's side. DH and I are often in agreement with names - it shouldnt be an issue for us -but who knows.

Yes. My husband is dead set on naming a son after him...Francisco. While I love my husband, I just cannot imagine calling my one month old...Francisco. But for like five generations before us, this name was passed down, so it's not like I can do anything but hope for a girl when we conceive!

DH and I both agree on Chloe for a girl....boys we dont agree on...i like Connor, Brody or Seth...DH isnt so sure...no middle names agrees on yet I think either Rose (my grandmas middle name) or Lynn (my middle name) boys im thinking of sticking with Charles (DH and Dh fathers middle name)

DH loves to try out names. He has done this for years! When we got PG the first time I bought him The Baby Name Wizard book (it's fantastic!), but we m/c so he's hoping to use it again soon. For a girl, we like Alexandra or Alexandria but for a boy, we're not sure...maybe AJ for Andrew XXX, Jr. after DH.

We aren't even TTC yet and we already fight over it.
So far we agreed on Rebecca for a girl. I also love Dillan for a girl but he will only take it spelled Dylan and for a boy. We are at a stand still after that!

As for DH and I, no. We haven't even started thinking about names, though I'll admit I seem to be drawn to names that are mainly of Irish/English decent.

No discussion why? Because DH is insistent, or are you in agreement?
This is the kind of thing I mean . . . I want a child to have his own identity, not be attached to his father or the memory of a dead relative who has been vaulted onto such a pedestal that no child could ever measure up.

We talk about names sometimes but don't ever officially decide on them. I refuse to damn a boy after DH.. in both familes we have many generations of Jr's and 2nd's, 3rd's etc and I HATE it. Credit cards get mixed up, weird nick names are formed.. ACK.. not for me.
