It's just the sense that I get when posts are made. I pray I am wrong but I'm not sure….
I am going to assume you are talking about the liberal posters.
If you are going to levy that kind of accusation against people, you had BETTER come armed with QUOTES.
Because honestly - again I am assuming you are talking to me or at least a group I am a proud part of - I am offended.
It is not a complicated concept to be against BOTH brutality against police AND police brutality.
I am sick and tired of being blamed for rhetoric and actions that a very small group of extremists is responsible for.

where is the outrage over our police being ambushed and killed!!!! Let's see the emotion over this as we did over the election results. This is a MAJOR, ONGOING, problem. Someone needs to deal with this because it's obvious over this last year our government is not doing anything to help or to deter this!!!
As the child of a retired PO, with you 100%. It's an absolute disgrace and the lack of respect is not just from the criminals. I would love to see anyone who criticizes them do their job for one day. You would be shitting your pants with the situations of life and death that these men and women face daily. DISGUSTING.

Actually I wasn't referring to the "liberal posters." You really need to stop trying to read into everything that I say. I don't know enough about you to know if you respect the police or not.
If you want to know what I am talking about, just look at the first post after my own that takes out a small snipet of the original post. It makes it seem like the OP is encouraging the police to use excessive force when in reality it's just force as needed. There are constantly things like that, taken out of context on here.

It is completely heartbreaking. I don't have any law enforcement family. I do have a few friends on the job. And I am disturbed every single time an officer is harmed.
The hatred for Law Enforcement is beyond extreme today. There are a few bad apples in every bunch. Targeting all officers for the actions of a few is the biggest problem here. And Target is the word I meant to use. They are being TARGETED. I wish I had a solution, but I don't even have a clue to what needs to be done to fix it.
To every LEO or family of, I thank you for your sacrifice every single day. The days of being a super hero when putting on those uniforms has been lost to a lot of people. But not to me.
This. I have friends and my bil on the streets every day and night.
It's scary. Very scary.

Yeah, that was me.
I don't think i took that sentence out of context. It is pretty plain. My point is this "us against them" mentality by ANY group is not helpful and is perpetuating the killings. I am talking about cop shootings as well as civilian killings by the police when excessive force is NOT warranted or appropriate. And don't deny that has happened and that in some cases, it is obviously race related.
My belief is ALL lives should be respected. Cops as well as ALL civilians, whether they are majority or minority members. And I don't think saying "Don't hesitate to use force" is going to further that goal.

But it is an "us against them" mentality for cops. It is them against the criminals. She didn't say use EXCESSIVE force. She said don't be afraid to use force. Do you know how many cops are afraid to use force now because they are afraid to have it be used against them? You might as well just take away their guns and give them back a billy club. They NEED to use force.
You took something out of context and heard what you want to hear. This post was about cops lives. When there is a post about black lives and people comment on the cops they get raked over the coals.

I don't need to stop doing anything.
I am reasonably certain that no one on here has never said anything about hating the police.
Assuming that as a reasonable truth, who else would you be speaking about? You said "many" people. Honest question.
I ask because liberals get accused of being anti police ALL the time.
If you are concerned about people reading into your words, perhaps weigh them more carefully before you post them.

Well if that isn't the boldest most accusatory of statements made on this site! And you're not even sure of your bold accusation so you made it anyway? I guess the same must be true then of certain posters here when a minority is killed at the hands of excessive police brutality... that they have no respect for minorities and the struggles they face?? Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't people be against violence on both sides of the matter?
People really need to stop with this us vs. them hostile mentality (not just this topic but all the heated topics lately)... Maybe if people came at these problems with a great deal of respect and empathy and understanding for "the other side" these issues might start to get resolved. Nothing good can come of all this divisiveness.

Do not hesitate use of force is by no means saying shoot then ask questions. It means don't hesitate if needed and appropriate as the writer stated. I'm sorry if this offends anyone but at the end of he day it is the PO that should return to the family not the criminal!!!
I said the government is not doing enough, meaning ALL government, I never said Obama or Democrats ( you are reading too much into it with that due to the heated, horrible way dems vs republicans have been treating each other, especially on these boards)
I am from a cop family. Grandfather, Father, brother, BIL and my husband. I honestly couldn't give a hoot what anyone else thinks. This needs to stop and stop now.
I am not now nor have I ever said there may not be a few bad cops out there but there are more criminals then cops. And I'm sorry, and maybe it doesn't work but I have to agree it is the mentality of us against them. There is no other way since the them sees it that way.

The senseless assassination type murders of police officers must end. It does sicken me. At the same time I am also upset by excessive use of force. One thing does not and will never excuse the other. No matter which side of the aisle you are on, all preventable deaths are wrong. I feel for the families of police officers. I seriously dated someone who wanted to be a police officer and I broke it off because deep down I knew I could not handle the daily stress of having a spouse in the line of duty and did not want to come between his dream job and the relationship. I commend all spouses who are ok with it because it is so stressful.
I agree with this.
as I said above, I NEVER said Obamas name or mentioned the democratic party. From what I know, our government is mad up of both parties and neither are doing anything
I will add, though, that I just can't get behind the first post. To lay the blame for all of this at Obama's feet is just too partisan for me and represents a deep rooted misunderstanding of racism. If you are going to insult the entire Democratic party in this manner you are just going to alienate people who otherwise would be saying an Amen to everything you say.
as I said above, I NEVER said Obamas name or mentioned the democratic party. From what I know, our government is made up of both parties and neither are doing anything. If anyone was alienated it is because they are seeing things that weren't written. You can't assume what someone is saying. That is 1/2 the problem of all the hatred going on with these boards and beyond. BTW, I understand racism, while I am white, my DD is not, so please don't assume that I don't understand racism. We have lived through times of racism in our own lives

I'm not assuming anything though. The "divisive rhetoric of our current administration" can't mean anything other than Obama and the Democrats because he is our current administration and he is a Democrat.
The word administration specifically refers to the president and the executive branch in general. Not Congress, not the judicial branch.
Obama has constantly been accused of inciting racism on this board (and elsewhere of course) which is a very racist accusation that makes my blood boil. So that was where my racism comment came from. If you don't feel that Obama has incited racism, then I (happily) take back my comment about not understanding racism that was directed towards you. But my comment about the writer of the original quote you posted will stand because there's really nothing else that divisive rhetoric can mean.
Just as a heads up - you misquoted me. Not a big deal -pretty much everyone on the boards knows where I stand by now!

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???
It's awful what happened. No other way to put it. Especially around the holidays. I pray it doesn't happen again but that's not realistic.
The vast majority of people respect and are thankful for police. There's a small percentage who do not, which is probably the same amount of police that are bad apples.
There will always be deviant behavior unfortunately and it sadly comes with the territory of being a police officer or in any form of law-enforcement.
I think a huge presence in the risky area schools when kids are young might be beneficial over the long term… Community cops participating in the local schools from a young age may help defeat the mentality.
Someone posted that the statistics this year are on par with previous years… I haven't verified that myself but I would venture the poster is correct. It's scary though when someone you love is in the field. You have to trust that they are well prepared and that they have great training. You also sort of have to hope for humanity and pray that they won't become a victim to a soulless deviant. Thats sort of my approach.
And as far as some of the tone that is here, everyone knows someone who is a cop or was a cop… so I fully believe that there is much respect and love.

Re: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???
Not sure what you mean- Clinton definitely said that at the debate? In fact, I was disappointed that she said that in particular because I was close to voting for her. Also- didn't Obama jump to the conclusion that the cops acted stupidly in Boston? Didn't he have the Justic Department come down heavily in Ferguson and the cop was cleared? My opinions aren't valid and need to be "fact checked?" I have a right to feel that Obama didn't support our cops without you calling me WRONG.

What is the gov't doing wrong? Like I said, there has NOT been big uptick in LOD deaths this year. It is just more forefront and on our radar.
And being from a cop family you SHOULD give a hoot what other people think since it is other people your loved ones are out on the street with. A little positive dialogue can go a long way. Why be more antagonistic in an already tense situation?

Can you clarify what you mean by your statement about the criminals shouldn't come home to their families?
Also, as has been posted, this didn't start this year. Under President Obama the number of police shootings has decreased. It's just being focused on more now with everything that's been going on, so it only seems like there's an increase.
And I also have police in my family and friends on the force as well so I understand how you feel. I still believe an us vs. them mentality is counterproductive and will only serve to exacerbate the problem.

The OP is clearly antagonistic and angry, and the entire thing she posted is counterproductive to fixing the problem IMO.
And why do I feel like if I say that, I'll be accused of being anti-police? I'm not, for the record.

Re: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???
From this article :
"Through Monday, there have been 60 officers fatally shot this year, up from 36 at the same point last year, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that tracks line-of-duty deaths. There have been 126 officers killed this year, up from 109 last year, according to the fund’s data."
That's not on par.
I agree with the OP. Where is the outrage? I'd like to see protests in the streets by those of us who are fed up with scum of the earth garbage ambushing and murdering our law enforcement officers in cold blood.
But we won't protest. We will mourn and rage quietly.
I made sure to voice my outrage today.
