WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???

ATTENTION ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS! (From the USHF Logistics Manager, rwb)
Today in a six hour period across the country we have had three brothers gunned down. One is dead and two seriously wounded. At least two of the three shootings were ambushes, and one was an assassination. Incidents occurred in Texas, Florida, and Missouri. As of this evening we have had 221 officers shot this year, of those 58 have been murdered by gunfire. This in addition to other line of duty deaths by means other than gunfire. Untold numbers of officers have been assaulted, but all attacks on cops are up from last year and rising.
There is an ongoing war on police in this country that was born from the rhetoric of delusional politicians, fostered from the hate and lies of a disgusting dysfunctional left-wing activist group that has been encouraged by the divisive rhetoric of the current Administration, and fueled by national media outlets with an agenda of distorted and manipulated news. All of which has resulted in a breakdown of law and order and respect for law enforcement in this country.
Make no mistake about it. You are being targeted because of who you are and the badge you wear. Be extra vigilant. Watch each other's backs. Take no call for granted. Be constantly aware of your surroundings. Call for back up when you think you could use it. Wait for backup whenever you can. Never hesitate with use of force. Use whatever force is necessary and appropriate to immediately end any threat or resistance. Please be safe.

Re: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???

where is the outrage over our police being ambushed and killed!!!! Let's see the emotion over this as we did over the election results. This is a MAJOR, ONGOING, problem. Someone needs to deal with this because it's obvious over this last year our government is not doing anything to help or to deter this!!!

My father was a cop and for the life of me I don't know why anyone takes the job today. I would be a firefighter instead if I could. The people that the police serve have little to no respect for them in many areas. It's so upsetting.

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???

My FB is filled with outrage - I come from a town that is largely populated by NYPD. These crimes against police are disgusting!

My dad is a retired police officer. My brothers are in the NYPD and MTA. I am scared for them every day especially with all of the hating on police recently.

Re: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???

The senseless assassination type murders of police officers must end. It does sicken me. At the same time I am also upset by excessive use of force. One thing does not and will never excuse the other. No matter which side of the aisle you are on, all preventable deaths are wrong. I feel for the families of police officers. I seriously dated someone who wanted to be a police officer and I broke it off because deep down I knew I could not handle the daily stress of having a spouse in the line of duty and did not want to come between his dream job and the relationship. I commend all spouses who are ok with it because it is so stressful.

Unfortunately, the numbers of LOD deaths so far this year are on par with most years. Despite the coverage and being made aware of OOS deaths, there really has not been an uptick. It is one of those things, that as we become more aware and informed of, seems to be incredulous but is minimally different year to year.
Now before everyone gets their panties bunched up, I am not excusing anything. Just stating facts. It is horrible and unimaginable. I know the fear. I was raised by a cop and still have many family and friends on the job in various places.
It's one of the reasons I am big on gun control and reform of the system.

What in the world would make you say that?

One can have respect for LEO while condemning those who use excessive and unnecessary force.

I agree with this.

I will add, though, that I just can't get behind the first post. To lay the blame for all of this at Obama's feet is just too partisan for me and represents a deep rooted misunderstanding of racism. If you are going to insult the entire Democratic party in this manner you are just going to alienate people who otherwise would be saying an Amen to everything you say.

Well, for the past 8 years every time a minority was shot by police, Obama would come out and say the police force is inherently racist and needs to be reformed. Then, came riots, more violence, and black lives matter. Hillary continued the rhetoric. This has absolutely emboldened criminals to kill cops because they are told cops are racist killers anyway. It's horrible.

I don't have time to research, but if memory serves me correctly. Obama rarely spoke about race/race relations until after the Trayvon Martin incident. That was in 2012, I believe. 4 years ago. So you can place the blame where you feel you need to, but facts say otherwise.
Like I said earlier, the numbers have not changed much year to year on LOD deaths. But silly facts.

Re: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???

It is completely heartbreaking. I don't have any law enforcement family. I do have a few friends on the job. And I am disturbed every single time an officer is harmed.

The hatred for Law Enforcement is beyond extreme today. There are a few bad apples in every bunch. Targeting all officers for the actions of a few is the biggest problem here. And Target is the word I meant to use. They are being TARGETED. I wish I had a solution, but I don't even have a clue to what needs to be done to fix it.

To every LEO or family of, I thank you for your sacrifice every single day. The days of being a super hero when putting on those uniforms has been lost to a lot of people. But not to me.

I am going to assume you are talking about the liberal posters.

If you are going to levy that kind of accusation against people, you had BETTER come armed with QUOTES.

Because honestly - again I am assuming you are talking to me or at least a group I am a proud part of - I am offended.

It is not a complicated concept to be against BOTH brutality against police AND police brutality.

I am sick and tired of being blamed for rhetoric and actions that a very small group of extremists is responsible for.

Several quotes and posts stating the opposite...

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/recent-police-shootings-obama-tells-officers-backs/

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says the nation will get through the recent killings of police officers with the “love and empathy of public servants” like the ones who were targeted in recent days.

In an open letter to the nation’s law enforcement officers, Obama said overcoming will also require resilience, the grace of loved ones and the good will of activists.

The White House released the letter Tuesday. It was dated Monday, the day after two police officers and a sheriff’s deputy were killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after being ambushed by a lone gunman. Baton Rouge is where police on July 5 fatally shot Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man outside a convenience store. Sterling’s death sparked nationwide protests.

Sunday’s law enforcement deaths followed the July 7 sniper killings of five Dallas police officers as they guarded a peaceful protest.

Obama has said nothing justifies attacks on law enforcement, a sentiment he reiterated in the two-page letter. The Fraternal Order of Police posted the president’s letter on its social media sites.

“Any attack on police is an unjustified attack on all of us,” the president wrote.
...
“We will do it with the love and empathy of public servants like those we have lost in recent days. We will do it with the resilience of cities like Dallas that quickly came together to restore order and deepen unity and understanding,” he said. “We will do it with the grace of loved ones who even in their grief have spoken out against vengeance toward police. We will do it with the good will of activists like those I have sat with in recent days, who have pledged to work together to reduce violence even as they voice their disappointments and fears.”

“Thank you for your courageous service. We have your backs,” Obama said.
...

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/president-obama-address-police-shootings/story?id=40419109

“When people say black lives matter, it doesn’t mean blue lives don’t matter,” the president said, adding that it’s instead “about us recognizing there is a particular burden placed on a group of our citizens.”

"This is not just a black issue, this is not just a Hispanic issue, this is an American issue that we should all care about," the president said, noting that when incidents like this occur there are segments of the country that feel that because of "the color of their skin they are not being treated the same, and that hurts and that should trouble all of us."

The president urged the country not to fall into an unproductive political debate that pits criminal justice reform against support for law enforcement –- saying the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

“To be for these issues is not to be against law enforcement,” he said.

“We know you have a tough job,” the president said, addressing law enforcement directly.

“We mourn those in uniform who are protecting us who lose their lives,” he continued. "I’ve hugged family members who’ve lost loved ones doing the right thing, I know how much it hurts…there is no contradiction between us supporting law enforcement.”
...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/07/09/police-are-safer-under-obama-than-they-have-been-in-decades/

Data from the Officers Down Memorial Page, which tracks law enforcement officer fatalities in real time, illustrates the point. During the Reagan years, for instance, an average of 101 police officers were intentionally killed each year. Under George H.W. Bush that number fell to 90. It fell further, to 81 deaths per year, under Bill Clinton, and to 72 deaths per year under George W. Bush.

[More people were murdered last year than in 2014, and no one's sure why]

Under Obama, the average number of police intentionally killed each year has fallen to its lowest level yet — an average of 62 deaths annually through 2015. If you include the 2016 police officer shootings year-to-date and project it out to a full year, that average of 62 deaths doesn't change.
...

62 is still 62 too many... Chat Icon

http://heavy.com/news/2016/07/president-obama-reaction-to-baton-rouge-police-shooting-barack-what-did-say-about-deaths-alton-sterling-louisiana-suspect/

I condemn, in the strongest sense of the word, the attack on law enforcement in Baton Rouge. For the second time in two weeks, police officers who put their lives on the line for ours every day were doing their job when they were killed in a cowardly and reprehensible assault. These are attacks on public servants, on the rule of law, and on civilized society, and they have to stop.

I’ve offered my full support, and the full support of the federal government, to Governor Edwards, Mayor Holden, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Baton Rouge Police Department. And make no mistake – justice will be done.

We may not yet know the motives for this attack, but I want to be clear: there is no justification for violence against law enforcement. None. These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one. They right no wrongs. They advance no causes. The officers in Baton Rouge; the officers in Dallas – they were our fellow Americans, part of our community, part of our country, with people who loved and needed them, and who need us now – all of us – to be at our best.

Today, on the Lord’s day, all of us stand united in prayer with the people of Baton Rouge, with the police officers who’ve been wounded, and with the grieving families of the fallen. May God bless them all.

I honestly don't think anyone on LIF hates the police. I think all of us have the utmost respect and admiration for the 99+% of cops who do a good job, and protect us from everything out there. The "anti-police" theme that the media loves to hype is more about people being upset about the small minority of cops who do abuse their power.
There are over 1 million LEOs throughout the country. There are going to be some bad apples in a group that large.

However, there is NEVER an excuse to ambush a police officer for ANY reason (not that I can think of a good reason to shoot an officer...)

My brother and three first cousins are cops. They are the most hard working, caring and selfless people I know. I pray for them and all the brothers in blue daily. It's a tough job. I also pray Deblasio is removed from office ASAP. My family does not support him.
