When did you move your DC To a Toddler Bed?

DD is 21 months old and seems to do fine in her crib.. but DH keeps asking me when we are moving her into a toddler bed, he says the crib is too "jail like".

Just wondering when you moved your DC and how you knew he/she was ready?

July 2012..... He got sick with high fevers and we spent a week on the couch, floor, and my bed... He refused to go back in the crib... I made it into the toddler bed. He was 3 months shy of 3 years old... If she isn't climbing out and is sleeping well, leave her....

When they were 2.5. Ds was climbing out but only when we were in the room which was weird.
The transition went great and they never get out of their beds.

My ds went at 3 1/2. He loved his crib and only when he started climbing out did I move him. I wouldn't rush it. We went through a difficult transition period. And napping and bedtime routines weren't as consistent.

We switched my son into a toddler bed when he was 3 months shy of turning 3. He was completely fine in the crib and we probably would have left him in there longer, but I was pregnant with DD and we wanted to use the crib for her. She is 2 now and still in the crib and as long as she doesn't try to escape, she will be in it as long as I can keep her there (within reason). It's so much easier not to have to worry about them being able to get out of bed on their own. I'm in no rush!

DD is 3 years and 1 month and she is still in a crib.

We recently went on vacation and she slept in a room with DS on a twin bed and LOVED it and has been asking for a big girl bed, so we are going to start looking for one soon.

We put DS in a twin size bed with rails at 17 months because he kept climbing out of the crib and falling on his head. The ped said it's a bit early but for his safety probably the best thing.
DS#2 is 15 months and he doesn't climb. We didn't even lower the crib to the lowest setting yet. He is terrified of falling.

Sean was almost 2, trying to climb out .....

Colin was a little over 2 and repeatedly climbing out all Mission Impossible like - he wouldn't make a sound, just suddenly show up looking all proud of himself ......

18 months my DS was in a twin bed with side rails. He hated the crib!
My 14 month old DD we plan on keeping her in the crib for MUCH longer! She does well in there, wakes up and plays until we decide to get her.

Older DS was about 2.5 because e was climbing in and out of his crib. Younger DS just to moved into a bed a month ago. He's 3.5.

We went straight to a twin bed for my ds, but he was almost 4. He loved his crib, slept great, and never attempted to climb out. IMO if it isn't broke don't fix it.

DS 1 was 28 months - he climbed out 2x.

DS 2 is almost 18 months and hasn't attempted to climb yet (but, I'm assuming he'll be out before 2).

he was almost exactly 2.5. DH and I were cleaning up from dinner one night, and DS was playing in his room.
I walked back to check on him, and he was IN his crib!!! LOL Apprently he just kind of threw his leg over the rails and fell in. BEtter than falling out, I guess since he fell onto the soft mattress. We couldn't risk it though, and converted his bed right then. (basically just taking the one side off). He's been sleeping great in there every since. I think he was ready. I like the convertible cribs becase its the same mattress and stuff that they've been sleeping on, so its not as huge of a change for them.

no experience yet with this , but my niece who just turned 2 climbed out of her crib in the middle of the night (and it was on low setting) so they moved her to a toddler bed.

DS1 - a little less than 2.5 yrs old. He was fine in it, but I had DS2 and he was ready for the crib.

DS2 is 26 months now and still loves his crib. Not trying to climb out at all so plan on keeping him in for another year if I can.

2.5. She started climbing out. First it was an isolated event and then a couple of months later, it was an every night event. I was afraid she was going to hurt herself.

26 months. She wasn't climbing out of the crib but my DH wanted her to be in a big girl bed. She did great with the transition.

DS was a little over 2.5 when we moved him to a full size bed. We never used a toddler bed. The only reason we moved him was b/c we needed his mattress for the new babies.

Converted DDs crib to toddler bed at 2. Now she's almost 3 and in a full size bed.

DD1 was 18 months because she climbed out. DS went straight to a twin at 2, because DD2 needed it. DD2 is 17 months and still going strong in the crib.

DD was almost 3. She wasn't trying to climb out but I needed the crib for DS. She naps on a cot at day care so it was a breeze.

I have no intention of moving my twins, unless it becomes a safety (climbing out) or space issue. They just turned 2
