What was the strangest gift you've ever gotten?
The gift itself wasn't strange, just the idea of it... I collect pewter dragons and wizards, and display them. Everyone in my family knows that, and will occasionally add to my collection. My Aunt decided that a kitten playing with a crystal "ball of yarn" would fit into my motive.... you know, because it's pewter...

Several years ago someone at work gave me a Victorian hand. With a sleeve attached. It was the oddest thing ever. It now makes an appearance every New Year's Eve.

A water globe (I don't even like water globes) that weighed about 82 lbs and was literally bigger than a soccer ball with the HUGEST base I've ever seen!!! It was the most a$$ ugly thing! It stayed boxed in my garage for a few years until I finally just threw out the monstrosity!!

A dustbuster from my BIL. I keep the house clean, but he thinks I have a cat hair problem. Welcome to the world of pet ownership (DH's family doesn't like pets  )

we received a set of Uggs as a wedding gift.
neither one of us could wear them as we have high arches and they would not go on past the ankle. in fact, i ripped one trying to get it on.
in case you're thinking bridal shower, nope this was the gift they brought to the wedding reception (they were not at the ceremony) there was no card or any other gift. just two pairs of uggs we could not use.

LOL this happened to me too, when my cousin's son was born I gave her clothes. I got them right back at my baby shower.

I got a paper bag with used hair ties, baby clips and a pair of dollar store sunglasses.
My dad once gave me a "build your own brain" science kit, too.

Not so strange but someone re gifted us a photo album for my shower and when I went to put pictures in it there was a card to the other person in the back. Bizarre

Two Christmases ago, I got a kitchen garbage can and a box of garbage bags from my MIL. That same Christmas, my BIL and his wife bought me a two pack of red Eveready flashlights and a small industrial floor mat like you would find in an office. It was blue with rubber edging. Like this.
It was an interesting Christmas, lol

Me too! My Aunt gave it to me and my mom put it in my room...I was like "No way!", so it was in my parents room for a while until they got rid of it lol

Exactly!!
It was really funny, because I teach my kids that you ALWAYS come across as appreciative for a gift no matter what. Always, without exception.
But man, was it hard to practice my preaching that year because all I was thinking was WTF? I mean, I was seriously waiting for them to all start laughing because they punk'd me. The best part is, we aren't even new homeowners or anything. We had been in our house more than a decade at that point.
They are, in general, the strangest gift givers I have ever come across. However, that year took the cake. So far, anyway.

As wedding gifts I got a set of sham wows from one friend and a slap chop from another. Single guys from upstate and they kept talking about the awesome gifts they got us lol

For my first bridal shower about 20 something years ago my cousin gave me a dirty weathered pane window. I guess it was suppose to be rustic chic but that was so not the style back then and it was REALLY dirty, like she picked it out of the dumpster before she walked in. The whole room fell silent when I opened up that doozy!!

A notepad with the initial D on it.
D was the first initial of my maiden name. Married name starts with a B. Gift giver's rationale was that "You had the last name of D for so long, I thought you might miss it and want something to remind you of it" This was after I had been married for over 8 years.

My ex-MIL sent a wedding gift to my now DH and I. It was the Bride & Groom cookbook that was gifted to ex-H and I at our wedding. With his name in it and everything. *cringe*
