What time do kids trick or treat on weekends?
We live in the city, but are heading out to the suburbs for Halloween this year. What time do people usually trick or treat? 1? 3? Just trying to plan our day!

I figure since it's Saturday we'll do a few rounds of TOT in different neighborhoods. We'll probably go out for the first time after lunch, maybe 1'ish. I think that's about as long as my kids will last before bouncing off the walls with excitement to get out there!! 
ETA - I think when Halloween falls on a weekend people have to be ready to answer the door for most of the day and night. I feel like anytime from noon on is fair game but I wouldn't be surprised to get some morning TOT's in m neighborhood too!

On weekends people usually show up anywhere from noon to 10pm! i think anything goes.

We are headed to the outlets around noon for Safe Trick or treating. then around 4pm we will go around the neighborhood with DH's family.

I think the unofficial rules are don't head out before noon. Meaning, don't be ringing the doorbell at 10am because it is a weekend KWIM?
Other than that -- like, once noon hits - it's on until after dark

I have no clue. We are going to a tot party at 4pm but dd loved tot even at 1 so I want to bring her even earlier. Probably going to see if anything local is going on since I know she will love it.

I have never heard of TOTing before dusk either and I grew up on LI, but this is our first year living back on LI after 15 years...I had no idea people could be coming around in the afternoon...I mean who sits around their house all day AND night? We will probably go around 5/6pm for an hour.

Me too. I don't get it...when I was a kid, Halloween on a saturday was amazing since you got to go out all day. I wish they would start earlier here!!

Down here in MD they don't trick or treat until it's dark... it's a word-of-mouth "rule" that everyone seems to follow and I HATE it. That being said, this is our first halloween with kids on a weekend, I'm hoping the rule is bent a bit, I like getting my kids to bed early and I also like going out when it's not too dark, seems less dangerous!

By us it is usually around 4:00-11:00. We might get some littles ones coming around earlier, but large masses of kids come closer to dusk

I live upstate and my town only allows trick or treating from 5-8 pm on Halloween. I actually love it. You turn on your porch light at 5 and TOTers come and at 8 everyone turns off their lights and people head home. I think it cuts down on teenagers being mischievous.

I'm in PA and it's on the 30th from 6-8 pm. I seriously don't get it lol, like Halloween has a specific day, how are they allowed to change it lol.

When I lived in the mid-west the county ordinance was 6-8pm in most towns.
And if the porch light was on, you knew not to go to that house…either they ran out of candy or they weren't giving any out.
I loved the set time and the porch light idea. You knew when and where to go. The nice thing was... everyone followed the rules. No one ever came after 8pm.
