Jaws
No joke!!! I know!!!!!!
Aside from a lot mentioned here,
Shawshank Schindler's List American History X Boys Don't Cry Life is Beautiful The Notebook,
I also think Silence of the Lambs made me NOT TRUST ANYONE!!! I swear, I look over my shoulder A LOT from that movie!
Also, What Dreams May Come...DH and I bawled like babies.
Requiem for a Dream...yeah, didn't want to touch drugs after THAT one!
Ahhh, yes, Saving Private Ryan...holy crap, there needs to be a mandatory watching of that movie by teens and adults alike.

Re: What movie has ever had a profound effect on you
An Inconvenient Truth Forrest Gump Seven American History X Glory (saw it on a HS field trip) The Color Purple E.T. Steel Magnolias Shawshank Redemption
There's also a movie with Sally Field and Keifer Sutherland that still disturbs me. I don't recall the name. But Keifer was way too convincing in the role.

"DAD" with Ted Danson. It helped me re-evalute my relationship with my father and helped me have a relationship with him again. ever read the book? By William Wharton? Much better!

Steel Magnolias.
I love the way each women has their own problems but when the time was needed, they all would unite and help each other.

Re: What movie has ever had a profound effect on you
American History X - So chillingly real. I hated what I saw, but I've never forgotten it. Ed Norton is a phenominal actor.
Kids - If you thought the movie Thirteen shocked you, watch Kids. It was made in 1995.

No, I didn't even know there was a book. Every time I watch the movie I cry, I can't imagine what the book would do to me.

Re: What movie has ever had a profound effect on you
Schindler's List Requiem for a Dream Poltergeist - Because of this movie I cannot watch horror movies.
Also, the show "The Wire" - last season was all about kids and it's deeply affected DH and I.

Meet The Robinsons - Yes, it's a cartoon, but the message has stuck with me... "Keep moving forward". Just such a great movie.

Re: What movie has ever had a profound effect on you
Three movies that affected me and left such a strong image in my mind I can't watch them again are:
American History X Requiem for a Dream Monster
A movie that actually changed my life: Terminator 2 (I was completely captivated by the special effects and it inspired me to go to college for computer graphics design)
