Wednesday QOTD
I, like most of you, have "babies on the brain" but I actually think more about what life will be like when I have older kids.
So, question: what are you looking forward to doing with / sharing / teaching your DC? If you already have DC, what are you looking forward to for when they're older?

Re: Wednesday QOTD
I often imagine myself reading with DC in the future, I don't know why. Maybe because I'm a teacher! But sometimes I see a "hard" word and imagine how I'd teach a little one how to pronounce it.
Also, DH and I are big sports fans and I can't wait till I get to take little ones to a Mets game! I remember how cool I felt when I was finally able to go to games with my own parents and I can't wait to share that feeling.

Re: Wednesday QOTD
my baby dreams tend to focus on extremes. little, tiny baby to cuddle and love and then flash college graduation. watching my child get married some day. may sound weird, but thats what i envision. and both make me equally teary eyed.

Re: Wednesday QOTD
When I was pregnant I looked forward to pretty much everything!! Reading books together, opening presents on Xmas morning, taking vacations as a family, teaching her new words and hearing her talk for the first time, watching every developmental milestone, etc. etc. Now that my DD is here I can tell that it's been every bit as fun as I imagined it to be. Just when you think it can't get any better........it does!!
Now that she is 20 months old we can do so much more with her. She LOVES books, she loves fish and dogs, she loves to cuddle, she loves to be our little helper, and she has this whole personality all her own. It has been an AWESOME 20 months and I can't wait for EVERYTHING else in the future although I don't want to rush a thing.

I'm a teacher too so reading with my LO is a big thing for me. I am also looking forward to taking them to places like the zoo and museums and celebrating holidays with them. I cant wait to dress my LO up and take them trick-or-treating on Halloween, open gifts under the tree and color Easter eggs with them. Those are memories I will always remember from my childhood.

Re: Wednesday QOTD
When I was pregnant I was looking forward to all of her first baby milestones. Like the first time she held her head on her own, rolling over, etc. I have it all written down very meticulously. Since I'm a working mom my parents and in-laws had very strict instructions if any of these happened while I was at work (which they did, but that's life).
Now at 4 I'm lookng forward to.. EVERYTHING. A few months ago we went for our first mother/daughter manicure. I thought it would be this great experience, unfortunately, she really wasn't ready for that.

Re: Wednesday QOTD
I'm looking forward to reading with them and helping them with their hw and projects...I guess because I'm such a big nerd myself. And trying to teach them languages at home from a young age. Bringing them to (Ethnic) school, and being the embarrassing parent that sits in because they need to learn the language too so the LOs can't talk about mommy behind her back!

Re: Wednesday QOTD
I was a pre-professional ballet dancer, so (if I have a girl) I'm looking forward to her dance recitals (if thats what she wants to do) and helping her at home-I used to be an instructor!
I can't wait to read to my kids, paint with them-I'm totally one for encouraging creativity.
If we have boys I can't wait to take them to baseball games, watching DH teach them sports.
ETA: DH and his entire family speak fluent italian (he's 1st generation here) so we hope to teach our kids to know the language and traditions.
There's so much to look forward to

Re: Wednesday QOTD
Honestly, everything. I know that may sound cliche or naive but I am looking forward to all of it. The crying, the diapers, the sleepless nights. Taking them to the playground and dance class and soccer games, school projects, vacations, holidays, birthdays. I am looking forward to every moment of it, good and "bad".
Ugh, I can't wait to be a mom!!!

Re: Wednesday QOTD
i always picture myself out with a running stroller taking the baby out for a run...we didn't even start trying yet and i'm already looking at strollers i have a sickness! i think i am mentally preparing myself that i will have weight to lose hahahaha
i picture us going to the beach and the zoo - both are really close to my house...
of course disney b/c we are in FL - but i'll be honest and say that disney scares me a little b/c it can be a long day! but we went with my nephew (3yrs) and niece (10 months) and they were both great - the 10 month old was an angel and we had a great time with them...
i think about taking pitures of the baby! i love photography and i have a camera so i can't wait to use it on my baby - i have great shots of my nephew and niece and i can't wait to have pictures of my own LO
i go up in the nursery room - which has been empty since we moved in, and imagine what it will be like...what the room will look like, i picture dressing the baby, rocking them to sleep, feeding them...
and i can't wait for hugs, kisses, to hear their voice, see what they look like
these are the things i am thinking about a lot - and that's why we are getting ready to TTC sometime this year...just have to finish up some work around our house first!

Re: Wednesday QOTD
I am LOVING reading all these answers. Every one of them is so sweet.
Reading them, I realized: When I look forward to the future and having future DC, I don't really ever think of milestones of big events. It's like, I'll be making dinner and imagine what it would be like to have a little one helping me or wanting to set the table. Or I'll be watching a tv show with DH and think to myself - this is really funny, I bet my kids will love this show one day when it's in re-runs.

Re: Wednesday QOTD
I am looking forward to teaching him/her to swim and seeing their face when they get in the ocean for the first time, to birthdays, I love birthdays and it will be so much more fun to celebrate for a child, to travelling and showing them the world and to holidays where they can play with their cousins (I didnt have any cousins anywhere near my age when I was little and I always wished I did).
