Really? Where on 110? I don't mind the store, it's usually the other customers that I can't stand.
same here. I get some great Organic stuff at WalMart that I cannot find in Stop & Shop. Again, I ask PLEASE GOD, have the CEO of Whole Foods decide to build a store in Monroe, Orange County or even Rockland County

I've never been to one in NY, but the ones in FL were really nice.
they're opening a new one in Commack soon. I'm actually looking forward to it. I like to buy my toiletries and cleaning products there.

Posted by Beth1210 so what to suppliers do?- take out more expensive materials and parts and use cheaper ones, use cheaper factories that don't pay over time, don't let the workers go to the bathroom, I could go on and one
You just described Home Depot too.
then I wont shop there either- I actually bought a lock from HD for $40- and got one that actually worked from the local hardware store for half the price
I don't really know about home depot and that industry- I am only speaking about the housewares industry- since that is what I do
I'm not "calling you out" - I agree with your stance...I was just putting it out there for those that didn't know
But I'm a hypocrite b/c I'm a whore for Starbucks' soy chai latte.
You are my fav person of the day (see above where I am called out for the same sad addiction despite Walmart hatred) mmmm soy!

Re: Walmart-Love it or hate it
In some parts of the country, the Wal-mart is the center of the community. Around here, in NY we have many choices to shop. If we had fewer choices, I bet more of us would shop there.

No offense to anyone but the thought of going into Walmart grosses me out
Why?? its just store....
because, it's nasty!!! If anything, I'll go to TARGET before Walmart. I have the SAME exact sentiments for KMART. KMART was decent (for a cheapie store) until it was taken over by Sears. Blech...

That's exactly the scary thing about Wal-Mart, I think. It bothers me that one mega-store is the only option available to people in many communities. I'm reminded of the early 20th century monopolies -- consumers didn't have a choice, and other businesses couldn't survive.
And if people in those small towns with only a Wal-Mart available didn't want to support the company because of its business practices, what choice would they have? That scares me, too, because there are plenty of good reasons to boycott Wal-Mart.
