Re: Walmart-Love it or hate it
I don't shop there or believe in there business practices
the company I used to work for was a slave to them- and my new company wont sell them- so I am happier here!

There is not one near me so I hardly ever go to one. I tend to like out of state wal marts better than ones in NY.

Re: Walmart-Love it or hate it
Its weird that people find "cheap" places like Walmart, Payless, Pathmark and the others that have been brought us as "gross".
OBVIOUSLY its not going to be as gleaming clean as a higher scale store, cause its not a higher scale store, Its cheaper, the pay for employees is less, etc etc .....But I think the "its gross" comments show a shallowness ....Do you thus think the people who go to them are Gross?
I disagreed with the materialism Thread the other day, now I 100% understand why people were saying it exists.......

HATE IT!
ALTHOUGH.... In other places of the country.. (I don't want to be told im OBSESSED WITH THE SOUTH but really thats the only place I have been in a walmart) They are Nice. And CLEAN! Its amazing. Here they Are gross and dirty
It is true... The WalMarts in SC - Fla & other places are immaculate! I went to the Walmart in East Meadow & Freeport after going to the ones here in Fla & I was disgusted- I left. There is a huge difference in what they carry and how they are kept. Even my family when they come to visit want to go to the super WalMart here b/c they have everything & for for better prices.
Exactly!

It's not that I don't shop in them. And I actually was there the other night. My dad's birthday is today and he wanted shirts that can only be found in Wal mart. When I say Gross I mean the way the store is kept. Not the people that work there or the people that shop there! When I go into the walmart in east meadow I am disgusted by the pallets of boxes in the aisle's so you can go down the aisle you have to go half way turn around go down the next aisle and back to the aisle with the boxes to see the other half. Its hard for me shop in a store like that. Its hard for me to see past the mess. Like the store Tuesday Morning... I am sure they have cute things but I go in there and I can't even look because the items are EVERYWHERE!
I worked in Kmart for 6 years and Pathmark for 3 so I don't think its me being materialistic.
Again the walmarts in GA and FLA are NICE. I love the super walmarts down there! They are like our Targets!

Re: Walmart-Love it or hate it
HATE IT. I will not shop in a Walmart EVER, I am ideologically opposed to it and its destroying ways. I also do not shop at Sam's Club, which is owned by Walmart.
ETA: I don't shop there because I feel Walmart is a monopoly and kills local businesses, and even other big businesses. They also don't treat employees right and are known for pressuring suppliers into lowering prices (which has caused many suppliers to go out of business or outsource production out of the US)

I never said I haven't gone in one, I just do not like the store, and every time I have been in one, it's like a scene out of Deliverance.

Re: Walmart-Love it or hate it
I've only been a few times --they didn't have any in Westchester untill recently.
I got candles & wrapping paper at the East Meadow one for my wedding & didn't think it was that bad. They had large quantities of both, so that was good.
The new one by me in White Plains was a disaster. It may have been because it was new, it may have been b/c of the layout/location.
The parking garage is so small & crowded, they had people directing traffic, but not really paying atteention ANd there were peopel standing at the exit YELLING at people to use the other door.
The crowds were INSANE, somebody already broke the "move the cart up the escalator" thing. I think he store had been open a week.

Haha - I was SO thinking that when I wrote that. Starbucks is the only spot with soy milk - as soon as a coffee shop with soy milk opens up, I will dump Starbucks and buy from the other coffee shop.

I think that might quite possibly be the worst Wal-mart ever!
The target down the street is so much better!

I live at least 30 mins away from one but I do go when I get the chance. Yes they are disorganized and chaotic, but I s u ck it up for the cheap prices every once in a while.

No offense to anyone but the thought of going into Walmart grosses me out
I don't normally like to start drama, but I think making a statement like this is a bit rude. I know people are entitled to their opinion, I just don't understand why you would say that.
ETA: I don;t love walmart myself, but I don;t really understand whta the big deal is?

DH feels the same way about Walmart that you do (rightfully so) but I just love teasing him over it while he drinks his caramel macchiato, wearing his Nike's, carrying a 2x4 from Home Depot.
True - my hatred isn't really towards big business (although that is part of it), as much as Walmart's pressure tactics towards its suppliers which have resulted in an extreme degree of outsourcing, and US job loss. I just feel Walmart represents the worst of the worst. I drive by a Walmart everyday on the way to and from work and I express my hatred each time I pass (while always amazed at how FULL the HUGE parking lot is)
