VERY SCARED.....updated

Last Sunday I got a BFP. It was a faint, but visible, line. I took another Monday morning, also postive and about the same darkeness.
So, yesterday and today I have been spotting brown only. I decided to take a digital this afternoon after work. Well, I took it and BFN!!!!! SOOOO, I went and bought a first response line test an hour or so later and took it.....positive!! Again, a lighter line but MOST DEFINITELY a line. So I need your help....what does this mean????? Was the digital faulty or something?? Am i going to have a m/c??? I plan on atking yet another test, digital and lines, in the am. I am also planning on calling the dr. and hoping he is open to go in for a blood test. Has anyone been through anything similar. I am freaking out and DH is a wreck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Don't worry, 3 positives and 1 negative sounds good! It sounds like maybe implantation bleeding. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm sorry, but it doesn't make sense to have implantation bleeding one week after a bfp. You would only have that about 5 days BEFORE a bfp. A bfp won't register unless the embryo has been implanted for a while.

As for your situation, remember that different pregnant women have different amounts of HCG during the first couple of weeks. Maybe you were a late implanter and so the HCG is still very low and is only being picked up by the more sensitive test (the FRER). Digitals are notoriously insensitive and need a lot more HCG (comparatively) to register a bfp.

If I were you, I'd go right into my OB-GYN's office tomorrow for a blood test. At my office, you don't even need an appointment for one, you just walk right in. This is important. You need to know what's going on. They won't refuse you when you're there. Good luck!

Re: VERY SCARED

from what I've heard, brown blood is old blood and red blood is what you should be concerned about (and even then, it may not always be bad).

I think that since your lines are so light, the digital may not be sensitive enough to register a positive, especially without FMU. i'd test with FMU tomorrow and see what it says Chat Icon

Re: VERY SCARED

Honestly a week after a BFP a digital should definiltely show positive. I would call your OB and ask for a blood work. It could be fine or it could be the start of a miscarriage (sorry). Either way I would want to have to concrete answers.

Re: VERY SCARED

im not going to say its def a chemical, but it def sounds suspicious. i would call the doctor and get a beta blood test done ASAP. if you got a BFP almost a week ago then a beta at this point should be well into the hundreds, which would guarantee a + on ANY hpt. if its very low you can prob assume chemical at this point. also, if your beta HCG (pregnancy hormone) was rising appropriately you should get a pretty solid line on an FRER by now - it should DEF be darker than your original BFP, it should no longer be faint. DEF CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!

thank you ladies Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon i will def. be calling in the am and let you know asap. my only issue with the chemical is that i didnt test early. AF was due saturday, got a positive on sunday. from my calculations i would be around 5 weeks already. i have had no bleeding just spotting and the neg test...i guess that would just bring me into the category of a rgeular m/c then. either way it stinks. hoping for some answers soon. Not saying you had a chemical AT ALL! But, I am saying that my BFP didn't come until 5 weeks and it turned out to be a chemical 1 week later b/c it never implanted. Doesn't have to be a specific time frame to make it a chemical.
With that said, spotting can be completely normal... and you may have just had one faulty test. Which I SINCERELY hope is the case for you! Keep us posted and definitely call your Dr first thing. Do you have any cramping? If not, it may just be completely normal.

Re: VERY SCARED

Call and request blood work ASAP. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I went through something similar and unfortunately I had a m/c which they called a chemical... The waiting sucks Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

when you tested is irrelevant to it being a chemical. a chemical is defined as positive pregnancy that ends before a heartbeat is detected on a sono (~6w). i had a chemical where i m/c at 5w2d. i knew i was going to m/c cause my beta only went from 42 at 13 or 14DPO to 47 two days later. then the next day it dropped to 41 so we knew i would m/c. a chemical is due to improper implantation for a plethora of reasons. i wont lie, i had two chemicals, one that occurred significantly earlier than the other. the second one was the later one and it hurt a lot more. from a medical perspective though a chemical and a m/c are the same thing (at least according to my RE - other doctors dont necessarily feel that way). so hopefully thats not what it is for you - but if it is, theres no difference whether you consider it a chemical or a m/c.

Re: VERY SCARED

so woke up this am and took 2 tests. the digital came up with preganant within a minute. the first response cane up positive faint again, which concerned me. An hour or so later I went to the bathroom and I was bleeding...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Going to the dr. at 11, but I am pretty sure i know the outcome. Trying to hold out with the little bit of hope I have left to be positive. Well, this all started as a miracle so maybe there is a little more bit of miracle left for me.
