Re: UK Nurse who feel for "prank" call about Kate Middelton commits suicide.
How sad..and if it happened at 530a she was a night Rn which means she was exhausted at time of the call and probably not thinking completely straight

The nurse violated Hippa laws(privacy laws) to the Royal family..I'm sure the hospital told her she was fired and possibly losing her nurses license.. She made an innocent mistake which lead to losing her career..She wasn't thinking rationally..she was probably so distraught over what happened..I feel so horrible for her family
ITA. Very sad and SO senseless.I also agree that these prank phone calls are awful. They make me cringe to the point that the minute I hear them start a phone tap on Z100, I change the station.

Not sure if I am missing something but the article does not say she committed suicide...

From what I read, this nurse was not the one whose voice is on most of the recording- she was the one who picked up the call and put it through to the one who actually gave the info.
And there is a lot of speculation that William wanted both nurses fired. He does like to threaten lawsuits, and in this case, would you blame him for wanting at least the second nurse fired? She really should have known better, especially since that hospital often has royal patients.
They issued a statement. The Palace did not ask the hospital to fire anyone.

UK Nurse who feel for
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a suicide. I imagine you can't mess with the Royal Family.

Re: UK Nurse who feel for "prank" call about Kate Middelton commits suicide.
I just read the death was "unexplained" so it was being called a suicide..also said friends and co-workers were shocked she would do this especially right before Christmas with two young boys...sounds fishy..but I'm sure the true story will never come out anyway.

I'm also guessing that the nurse was like family to the family. I can see how embarrassed and horrified one would feel about it...
Why don't they just leave them alone...obviously if someone in the hospital they're not in the best condition.
How sad

This is a terrible excuse! I wouldn't want my nurse, overnight included, not thinking completely straight and I'm sure most nurses you speak to would agree that overnight or not, patient confidentiality is not taken lightly at any point in your shift.

I just saw in news12 thatbthe nurse who committed suicide was the one who transferred the call to the one who gave out the information, not the one who gave the information...

yeah reports were all over the place at first. now it sees they clarified it was the receptionist...not the one who gave info. Some reports still have it mixed up.

HIPAA is an american law, who knows what kind of laws they have over there in regards to privacy. HIPAA wasn't actually designed as a policy to protect patients from nosy people, it has to do with information for billing. It has its good and its bad points. Need your records faxed? Forget about that unless you want to go and sign paperwork giving your permission. Want your lab results as you are being discharged from the ER? Nope, you have to go during business hours to medical records and get them there.
I don't know how anyone would give any information, even that the person is actually there, about a famous patient. If that were me getting a phone call like that, I would hang up as soon as they said Kate's name.
I don't give any information over the phone at all because I don't know who I'm speaking with, even before this law existed. At my new place of employment, family members who have been seen in person or verified as true over the phone by the patient him/herself are given a secret code to call to give when calling for information. If there is no code, then they get hung up on.
