***Tuesday's QOTD***

This is a two part question, tomorrow will be the second part.

Regarding work, what are you planning to do once LO comes? Will you be a SAHM? Will you work FT? Will you work PT? Will DH be a SAHD?

Have a great day ladies!

eta: wording was weird, sorry!

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

With DS I planned on going back to work and I did just a different job where I could take him with me. I am SAHM now because I'm in school so if I got preggo with #2 it would probably stay the same. I might need to work PT for my sanity

I would love to be a SAHM but unfotunately, I dont think it will happen. I would like to take some time off from work to be with my LO & then work either from home or part time.
LO is lucky enough to have both our parents to help.

I plan to stay home as much as i can - either work part-time (some from home) or just use our savings to live off of for a few years until LO goes to school

I plan on going back to work, but I get 6 months paid maternity, so not until after that. I work very long hrs now, so might try and look for something else that is more family friendly during that 6 months time. We will either do day care, or more likely a nanny for awhile and then day care when he/she is a little older

This is my first post here though I've lurked for a while!

I'd love to be a SAHM as long as possible. I will definitely stay home for one or two years and then we'll see what happens. It's hard to imagine letting my position go but I also don't want to be a working mom.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

I'll work full-time. Not sure what the childcare situation will be, ideally part-time daycare and family will help part-time, but time will tell.

Im not 100% sure yet, things will probably change.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

I will work full time, but I'm a teacher so I have my summers and holidays off. DH has a seasonal job as well, but the opposite season. Therefore, we really only need care end of August, September and October as well as April, May and beg. of June. He can stay home Nov-March and I can stay home mid June-mid August. We have a good friend who stays home with her DS and is looking to take on another child or two so this is where DC will go probably.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

I'll be going back to work pretty soon, I think. DH usually works 4 days a week - Sat, Sun, and 2 weekdays, so at the most we'll only need childcare for those two weekdays. And if he takes the afternoon shift at work, we'll only need childcare for a few hours on those weekdays. So it should work out pretty well... I hope... if this ever happens for us... Chat Icon

Our plan is for me to stay home for a year then go back to work. Never know though, at this point, we may try to have kids closer together so I will stay out longer.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

Shaun would love to be a SAHD... he talks about opening a day care all the time... hes surrounded by kids whenever they are around... i think he'd do a great job...

I wouldnt mind staying home either... but i do love my job... i would definitely be able to work it into a PT job because I just dont have that much work that i need to be here 9-5 m-f... hence the ridiculous amount of time i spend on FB and LIW... lol

As soon as my FMLA is up, I have to go back to work. No choice since DH and I both need our salaries to pay the bills.

However, my MIL has stated she will retire when LO arrives and she will be taking care of our LO with FIL.Chat Icon

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

with DD i worked throughout my pregnancy. Once she was born I stayed home for a year (I started out doing 6 months and extended). I hope to do the same with the next baby too. It wasn't easy and we couldn't really afford it, but we made some sacrifices during and after to pay off some debt that we accrued.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

To answer my question, I will have to go back to work once LO comes. I reallllllly don't want to, but such is life.

Maybe after LO number 2 I can stop working, but that will be determined at that point.

I am a SAHM now, but regularly toy with going back to work PT (I did this for 10 months after DS was born) so we will see how I feel after having #2!

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

I work FT++ now.

If I can time this right, stay home for 3 months instead of 6 wks, then return to "part time" which is 30-40 hours a week.

If I can find a true part time job for 2-3 days a week that pays well, I'll do it.

Re: ***Tuesday's QOTD***

I am a teacher so I will work FT through pregnancy and when DC is born i will stay home for 6-8 weeks (depending on if its a vaginal birth or c-section) then return to work. During the school year we will send DC to daycare PT and family will watch the remainder of the time. It will be ice to have the summers and all other vacations throughout the year to spend with DC. Im hoping its just the right mix to keep me sane.

I will go back to work after maternity leave and family will take turns watching LO. For baby #2, I would probably stay home for a year so I could be with both kids. That is...unless my DH suddenly starts making millions. Then, I stay home...forever!!! Chat Icon
