My friend has a Honda Pilot and loves it. She doesn't have kids though, so you'd have to check on that.

Re: trucks/car help- need advice

My sister in law and my sister now have a GMC Envoy, and I believe they are both going to lease the GMC Arcadia next. That truck is really nice....and wide. It also has the third row which they both need. My sister in law has 3 small boys, and they all had their child seats in the Envoy with plenty of room for other stuff.

Hyundai just came out with a big truck with a third row called the Veracruz
External Image

The Veracruz will be powered by a DOHC 3.8-liter V-6 with a six-speed automatic transmission. It will come with a standard third-row seat that folds into the floor and will be larger than a Honda Pilot, with more cargo space than a Mercedes GL.

“It looks like a Lexus,” noted one journalist, when he rested his eyes on Hyundai’s 2007 Veracruz Limited, a mid-size crossover with seven-passenger seating. And indeed, the folks at Hyundai did mention the pricier 2008 Lexus RX350 several times. Subliminal suggestion?

Ok, the Veracruz will never be a Lexus, but then again, you can purchase the 2007 Veracruz Limited FWD for $32,995; the 2008 Lexus RX350 comes in at $38, 115 or $7,715 more. OK, and that could equal; a summer vacation, a full-set of braces for your teen, a down payment on a party, a year of nursery school (or a half year in New York City). But, you ask, does the Hyundai Veracruz have a flying chance?

Ok, let’s take a look at the facts. The Veracruz, poised to compete with the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Suburu Tribeca, comes very well endowed.

For example, our Limited model came standard with luxury indulgences such as ambient lighting, heated leather seats, a six-CD Infinity stereo, a power liftgate, a sunroof and auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors. While many of these items are optional on other trim even the base Veracruz includes second-row climate controls, satellite radio, six airbags, defroster-equipped side mirrors, Electronic Stability Control and active front head restraints. And there’s more hip options including a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, a 605-watt stereo, power-adjustable pedals and hands-free keyless entry.

External Image

At the soul of the Veracruz is a 3.8-liter, 24-valve V-6 (with dual-chrome exhausts) with 260 horsepower and 257-pound-feet of torque that delivers a smooth curve.

The power didn’t get my pulse going but it did get me out of traffic in New Jersey –which is essential for me. The drivetrain gets some spice from the Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic, Hyundai’s first. Cabin noise? None. McPherson front and multi-link rear suspension provided a rather comfy ride. And, the big question…how's the mileage? 18-mpg city and 25 mpg highway matches that of the Pilot and Highlander.

I got this info from two different websites

Re: trucks/car help- need advice

I have a GMC Envoy (no 3rd row) but the truck is very roomy. Once we have kids, I will get either the Tahoe or just get the GMC Envoy with the 3rd row.

They are no longer going to be producing the GMC Envoy XL (the one with the 3rd row seat) now that the Acadia is out. That is the replacement.

I didn't realize that....In any case, I would probably upgrade anyway to the bigger truck, either Tahoe or Yukon...I saw the Arcadia in person & I thought it looked more like a mini van then a SUV

We loved the Acadia in person but the $$ is ridiculous since it's new and has no incentives. We have also looked at the Tahoe and loved it(the pricing was not too bad either). The new 08 Toyota Highlander is beautiful, completely redesigned, 3rd row seating but for 3 kids it would be on the small side. My brother and SIL own a Sequoia and absloutely love it.
