How long after birth did you ? My DH doesn't want to wait any longer and I want to get on BC before I do anything.

Re: TMI
Doc has to clear you first. Open wounds down there! I think I remember about 6 weeks.
Condoms are cheap and easy.

Do not do anything without a form of BC. You are super fertile after giving birth.

Re: TMI
We don't wait long. As soon as the bleeding stops. My last 3 babies we did it 9-11 days PP. after my first baby I waited 3 months and was still scared. I took a long time to heal after baby #1. Talk with your doctor and get their recommendation for you personally.

I'm not going to lie as soon as I stopped bleeding which was 4 weeks pp we took care of business. But it only happened once and then I waited for my 6 week visit with the dr.

We waited 7 weeks. I was so scared but it was fine would never do it sooner than the 6 weeks the doctor specifies you are healing down there.

Re: TMI
I don't love talking about stuff like this on a public message board, but typically the only women who ever respond to this question are people who jump right back into it quickly. I know from talking to my friends that it varies from 2 weeks to 8 or 9 months, but I think the people on the "longer" end of the spectrum don't advertise it, and don't respond on threads like this. So when you pull up a thread that asks the question (and it gets asked about once a month), it seems like every woman in the world waits 2 - 6 weeks, and honestly, that made me feel like sh!t. Like I was the only weirdo who was too tired, too sore, and truthfully too uninterested for quite a while after giving birth.
So...yeah. 3 or 4 months. I think. I was too tired at the time to note it in my datebook.

Re: TMI
Probably 10-12 weeks with each PG. I had some MAJOR damage each time afterwards, some healing complications and I couldn't even fathom it.

Re: TMI
I also want to add that I had a very easy delivery with only minor tearing and a few stitches. I felt 100% in a week. When my Dr discharged me he told me that since I had such minor tearing etc that I was clear to do anything. No restrictions at all. Except for one thing- NO SEX until he saw me at 6 weeks He was very clear on that. There has to be a reason for their advice. I'd heed it. I would tell my DH to get acquainted with his right hand.

I waited the 6 weeks.
I felt great a few days after delivery...I had a few stitches, but there is a reason for that rule and I didn't want to take the chance!

My dr said to wait 6 weeks but if I wanted to wait longer I could always blame my dr and tell dh longer. This is why I love my dr.

Re: TMI
You are suppose to wait 6 weeks, we didn't make it that long after the boys.
This time there will be NO till I have PROOF from a medical professional ensuring me that my husband has NO swimmers, none, zero, zilch, not one single teeeeeny tiny swimmer. I think after the procedure there is a few weeks wait time, and then a re test to make sure. However long that is, THAT will be my wait time and maybe a week after that for good measure.
