Re: This was written on bday invite my son received..
I'd love to get gift cards for clothes for my kids! To get $200 worth of clothes makes more practical sense than 10 $20 toys! I usually ask for no gifts (I try to limit the amount of stuff we have).
I've been asked for clothes (I usually ask which store & then get a gift card & one cute item with gift receipt). This is typically by family. I never thought it was rude: just hard to think of what gifts for kids who may have a lot of stuff a few months after Xmas.
Honestly, I think there should be a way to give $20 or so for a kid's college fund for a party. Way more useful than another plastic toy & I LOATHE regifting (which I consider way more tacky than anything).

"Santa spoiled the girls so much this year that we would appreciate not receiving any toys, however, we are excited to let them pick out a new spring wardrobe, so please make your gift a Kohls giftcard. Thank you!!".
Thoughts?
If they're so excited to let the girls pick a new spring wardrobe, perhaps they should pay for it themselves
...and let Santa know that he should leave gift cards instead of gifts next year.
Unbelievable!
