The time has come....
to come out of hiding. I am Kneedeepinthehoopla.  and yes I listen to the radio!! I am almost four months pregnant. I decided to stop being so superstious!!
I was keeping it a secret because of what happened to me during my last pregnancy. I lost the baby during my fifth month.
Now I have another question and could really use a lot of advice. Should I get an amnio? My obgyn insists that I go for one. Now due to it being so invasive, I really have doubts about it. However, I did have one last time and it came back clean. Dh and I found out there was something wrong during our level 2.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Personally, if you had one before and it was clean, I'd do it again. Especially if your doctor wants you too.

As for the amino, I would do it. The doctor wants it done for a reason, so I would listen to her, but it's totally up to you guys.

Congratulations! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months!
I would also do the amnio if recommended. We could have had one given some of our genetic tests although it wasn't indicated. We chose note to only because it would purely give us genetic info for future generations but there was likely no risk to the current fetus. In making that decision, we were informed that amnios are much more routine and less risky than most think. If the Dr recommended, I would have done. But, it is certainly a personal decision. imo, the question to ask yourself when considering getting any test done is, what will you do with the information you get? let's say the amnio shows that there is a genetic abnormality - will that lead you to make different decisions regarding this pregnancy? if so, then i would get it done. if not, then i wouldn't take the risk, as small as it is.

As far as the amnio, I was recommended to have one after the ultrascreen came back high risk of downs----I decided to have it done, not that it would change anything, but atleast we would be as prepared as possible.
