Stores you hate
The Trader Joe’s thread got me thinking.....
What stores do you hate that other people seem to love?
For me, I hate NY&CO. It all looks the same- low quality. And so many cold shoulder tops.
Gap Kids, IMO, is expensive unless it’s on sale and the girls stuff is so eh to me.
I’ve never been in a Sears that didn’t completely creep me out.
I’m all about cheap but I can’t get behind Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. The TJ Maxx on 1st ave is the only one that I’ve ever found anything in.
And with the sole exception of the jumping beans line for kids, I hate kohls. None of it is a bargain, the website stinks and the stores feel claustrophobic.

TJM/Marshall's/Home Goods/C21
I hate the way everything is laid out.. It's not organized like a regular department store is. Most of the time the stores are a mess too.
I'll go run and hide now. I know a lot of people like these stores.

Re: Stores you hate
* walmart... i would rather die than step into one of their stores. i don't care how cheap their products are * kohls... i shop there on rare occasions; i just don't care for it * old navy... don't see the appeal
a few months ago, i would have added sears to my list. i've recently discovered their (and kmart's) shop your way loyalty club and how you can win points with a silly app/game. now, i get all sorts of free, or almost free, stuff at their stores that i don't mind it so much. i usually use my points for free tp and paper towels. i love not having to spend money on that stuff.

Stores you hate
Toys r us. Biggest rip off imo. I never shop there willingly and mostly only ever go if we have a gift card.
Wal-Mart. I dislike them as a business but the stores are disorganized and just skeeve me out.
Bulk stores like Costco and Sam's (again, Wal-Mart business practices) but I just think so much of it is overpriced. They only things I tend to get drawn to are junk food so not a great store for me to go to.
Macy's. Why does it take an hour to ring up one item??

TJM/Marshall's/Ross - I don't have the patience to look thru racks of clothing to *maybe* find one item I like. And they're not any cheaper than if you hit another store's sale (like JC Penny or Belks). I prefer when racks of clothing are laid out so you can see them as you walk by - which is also why I don't have the patience to look thru clearance racks.

Re: Stores you hate
Home Goods. I don't think I have ever found a thing in there and it has a bargain basement feel and is always a mess
TJ Maxx/Marshall's for the same reason NEVER find anything there nor do i have the patience to look. It even smells odd in there. Like where all the old clothes go to die or something.
Old Navy- the clothes are always ill fitting and cheap

Kohls. I do not get the appeal at all. It reminds me of both JC Penny and Sears.

Of those I have set a foot into : Walmart KMart Kohls Macys TJ Maxx Marshall's Costco (I have a BJ's membership) Stop n' Shop
I despise going to any mall. Do not like the crowds, do not like the hunt for parking. I always feel lost, not sure of where I am going.

Seriously- Macy's is THE worst place to check out. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my stuff and walked out.
I order online from there.
I like all these other stores though. Except for Gap Kids- I agree- overpriced and meh. I just don't like it.
I didn't used to like Old Navy, but they're better now. I like their jeans a lot.
ETA: Not an H&M fan either. I used to like it, but only one particular location... which now closed.

Stores you hate
Walmart - will not step foot in it. I was traumatized by the one in Westbury when I had to walk over human feces as I was leaving the store.
Kohls - But I will go every so often because there is one 2 min from work and get bras. I do like their bra department.
Need to add Stop & Shop! Worst supermarket ever and SO overpriced! So happy a Shoprite opened near me a couple of years ago.

Re: Stores you hate
I used to like NY&Co but their stuff is crap these past few years.
American Eagle/Hollister/Abercrombie are all the same boring things and their stores smell weird.
I don't get the appeal of Chipotle at all. I had it once or twice and wasn't impressed.
I don't like makeup counters at department stores at all. You will never find me at one.
Express never seems to have anything I like.
Walmart is trash.
Bath and Body Works is boring, basically all it is if gifts for people you don't care for.
I find those personalization stores to be corny, I mean I know my name, don't need it emblazoned on some cheap looking mass produced doohickey.

Yes, forgot about Chipotle. I don't get the appeal. I like the food at my local Taco place way better. And I never find anything in Express either!

Aldi
Walked in there for the 1st time on Wednesday and don't ever plan to go back. It looked cheap, smelled weird and had no-name, cheap looking brands that I'd never heard of and wouldn't buy. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Yeah not a fan either. And the way they use the cardboard boxes the products ship in as the shelving units- a bit odd

Aldi's own's Trader Joe's so it's the same no name brands people pay a premium for there.

Yes! The boxes were falling apart. I thought it was worse than Walmart and that says a lot.

Re: Stores you hate
I agree, I hate most of these stores. I used to love Home Goods but now I have no room for clutter or for stuff that can only be used on one day a year. Like I have gigantic (but adorable) serving platters for Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween. So they take up room 364 days a year. It's not worth it for the one day I get to use it. Or serving pieces that are for like one specific occasion. Like my cake stands that are perfect if I'm hosting a beautiful sprint time tea party (which has happened once in the last 5 years). Some years, I can't even find the serving pieces I'm looking for... so I have to wait a whole year till I get the chance to use it again. I have too much stuff I won't even step foot in most stores now.
