Spotting - Normal or Abnormal???
For the past year I get spotting a couple days to a week before my period. It doesn't happen every month, but it happens.
I've only started taking notes of when the spotting happenes and my temps for the past 2 months.
My questions: 1. Is this normal or something I need to be concerned about? 2. I have a routine obgy appointment in August, do I wait until then to speak to my doc or should I call now? (We've only tried for 3 months on to the 4th and I'm 33)
This month spotting started at 6 DPO and today 11 DPO my temp took a dive, so I know my period is coming tomorrow. . .
Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm just frustrated and sometimes jus want to cry.

Re: Spotting - Normal or Abnormal???
Spotting for a couple of days prior to AF is normal. Spotting at 6DPO is generally not normal. It could be a sign of a progesterone or luteal phase issue. I would absolutely bring it up with your OB and if they brush you off, find someone else to talk to.
I hope it's just implantation spotting and you get your BFP soon!

Re: Spotting - Normal or Abnormal???
i have heard that any spotting thats not directly prior to AF arriving is likely a result of low progesterone during your LP. your doctor can give you a progesterone supplement if you are concerned. unfortunately its usually in the form of vaginal suppositories or gel, and i'll be honest, they are kinda gross. as for calling your ob/gyn now instead of waiting, its prob not 100% necessary. you can prob wait til your appointment. however im not sure that many ob/gyn will actually do anything about it. most RE's give progesterone for it, not sure about ob/gyns though cause they tend to have a less hands-on approach to TTC.
good luck!!! hopefully its implantation and you dont have to worry about it!!

I think it's normal. But it's also something tomention to your doctor.
I read that it's normal but if it happens a lot then it's something to bring up with your doctor.

well the initial spotting at 6 DPO was pinkish then it started turning brown. Its not dry either. It lasted for about a week and it transitioned into my period which I got today.

Re: Spotting - Normal or Abnormal???
Some people are just spotters. It happened to me (though not the month I got my BFP). Just as a precaution, you may want to have your progesterone levels tested at 7dpo. Spotting MAY indicate low progesterone, but in most cases, it's nothing.

Re: Spotting - Normal or Abnormal???
Spotting for more than 2-3 days before your period is abnormal.
I have big time spotting issues which is believed to be the major symptom of my infertility. My progesterone is completely fine, so we are now looking into other causes.
Let me know if you have any questions.
ETA: Sorry if that sounded so bleak! Just wanted to add that I had less severe spotting issues before I conceived my DD (about 4-6 days, now it's 8-10 days) and conceived her on my 4th month TTC. My current issues fall under secondary infertility.
