i smoked for 9 years. i quit 2 1/2 years ago - it was sooooo hard but soooo worth it! i don't know how DH put up with it for so long, he hates smokers!

i never even tried a cigarette in my life.. DH does not smoke either.. i would never date anyone that did.. just hate it!

We never did. When I was in HS I was seeing a guy who smoked. After that, never dated a smoker.
I have a family member who smokes and I wish I could get them to stop.

I don't smoke. Never did. I couldn't imagine EVER dating a someone who smoked. That was until I met DH & he smoked.
He told me he'd quit one day. I used to harp on it & then I let it go. He wasn't allowed to smoke in our house. After we had kids, I wouldn't even hand him our baby if he had come in from having a cigarette. He quit when my son was 8 months old - right after he had a bout with RSV.
That was 5 years ago. I'm absolutely thrilled that he did. Very proud of him for doing it too. I can't mention it though. He asked me never to mention it to him again. I think even 5 years later, he still craves a cigarette. If he ever went back to it, it would be a huge deal to me based on the health issues alone.

Dh never smoked - hates it w/a passion. I quit when I was in HS... so he never even knew me as a smoker.

Both of DH's parents smoke, and they light up often at the same time in the small den ... it makes my eyes itch and makes me want to run from the room Both DH & his brother have asthma ...

 That's a sticky situation. I know how you feel - been there.
I actually would leave the room. I had to do this when my college BF's parents smoked in their house. I just excused myself and then explained later I was allergic.
Honestly, I'm not going to put my health at risk just to be polite. I'm already at a high risk for developing heart disease and cancer with my family history - I don't need second hand smoke making it worse.

My whole family smokes/smoked. I have no problem with smokers in general. But I don't smoke and I don't like kissing smokers.
I would never have dated - much less married - my husband if he smoked. I just don't like it.

same here, but 90% of our friends smoke, and I can't stand it! Gets on my clothes, hair, everything but as long as it's not in my house or car, what can i do?

DH is a smoker.
I am an occasional smoker. I have one at night and on the weekends, like 2 or 3 a day. I know...why even bother?  I think if DH didn't smoke, I wouldn't care to, either.

Neither of us really smokes, occasionally we would smoke flavored cigarettes/cigars on a long drive. But we won't be doing that anymore since we are TTC.

I lived in a house were my mother, father and sister smoked.. it was horrible, my cloths stunk all the time. I tried it, and it felt like i was breathing through a sock.. Yuck!...
My mother passed away from lung ca. from cigarettes.
