Sophia got her DOC Band *w pics!*
so I've posted plenty of times about Sophia's brachy/plagiocephaly --
she got her "helmet" on tuesday! I've been calling it her crown. 
I think it was more traumatic for me!  I was convinced that she'd be shunned; that the smiles and aws we were used to would turn into doubletakes and puzzled looks of concern. BUT I'm happy to say that everyone has been so kind to her since she's been in it! We've even had a few people ask about it! This is what I was hoping for! Since the "Back to Sleep" campaign began the incidence of Plagiocephaly (Flat Head Syndrome) has been on the rise at an alarming rate. As time goes on, there will only be more and more LOs in "helmets", and I want people to understand that there's nothing "wrong" with these babies!
It's called a DOC Band from Cranial Technologies (otherwise known as a cranial molding device). If anyone EVER has to go down this road with their LO please contact me about Cranial Tech -- I cannot say enough great things about them!  When the orthotist put the band on Sophia's head she petted it, and went back to playing. Hasnt paid it much attention since!
Anyway -- she'll be in it for about 3 months, and she has to wear it for 23 hours/day. We're praying she gets it off for her first bday in Sept
So here it is -- the first is Sophia in the band the first day she had it, it wasnt glammed up yet 
The second two are after I made some adjustments

OMG SHE LOOKS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you made it so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 
You have a beautiful spirit to see this as an educational opportunity for those who might be curious!!! I've seen tons of kids in helmets just walking along and ALWAYS ALWAYS give them a wave and a "thumbs up"!!!

I wish I had known about this when DD was a baby- She had torticollis (her neck muscles were stiff on one side) and she always slept with her head facing right. It left the side of her head flat. She had physical therapy for the torticollis for 9 months, but her head is still slightly flattened on that side (she's 3 now).
