So, I think I am officially the 1%
I took two HPTs at 6 30 this morning. Both negative. Went back to bed.
Got up about 30 mins ago, was feeling more cramps, went to the bathroom and this "spotting" has just got to be my period. It has to be. I did have moments over the last few days when I thought it was, and this morning I decided that it just is.
It is so appropriate that I would get a false positive on the cycle that I thought we actually got it right. I am a living, breathing, talking Murphy's Law-- why would I expect anything less? I was going to call the 1 800 # on the box to ask them about the tests, but why bother. I would have more gotten BFPs by now if the one on Sunday was a true BFP.
It also appears that I have a short LP-- which I know doesn't vary too much by cycle. This is what concerns me most, since this will present a problem in getting pregnant.
The ONLY positive in this is that my cycles got a few days shorter. It does suck that I am 4.5 months in, and we only got to try 3 times.
Oh well, on to the next.

I didn't know you could get a false positive. My friend was PG with her DD for months before she had enough hormone in her blood to say she was pregnant. So needless to say, the HPTs never came up positive, but she was pregnant.

Awww, are you sure its not just more spotting? It's still very early!
Can I ask what makes you think your LP is short? I am afraid mine is too (though I haven't really confirmed it). I've heard taking extra vitamin B6 can make it longer...

Re: So, I think I am officially the 1%
the thing is-- I really feel like I already have my period. So, I feel like this is moot.
I just called the 1 800 #, and she said it was too early to test and that I should wait 15 to 19 days AFTER ovulation to test, which we all know is bullsh!t. But, it still doesn't explain the false positive.
I am going to call my doctor now.

Definately keep us updated but I do hear that the best time to test is really 16DPO so that you can rule out false negatives & any evaporation lines that would great false positives.

I guess it's possible that the BFP test was defective. Did you read it too long after taking the test. I think it's only valid within the first 10 minutes. If you are worried about your LP, you can try B6 Vitamins at 400 mg. per day or natural progesterone cream. GL!

I was the 1%, too. I got a BFP about two months ago. But when I went for bloodwork, my beta was negative and my numbers showed that I never ovulated.
I'm sorry--I know what you're going through.

The line showed up right away-- definitely not 10 mins later.
I think I am going to try the B6-- can you get the progesterone cream over the counter??
Anyway, I am just waiting for my doc to call me back today-- we'll see what my next steps are.
If this is my period, I am not sure what to count as CD1 though.

Re: So, I think I am officially the 1%
i really don't think that the test was defective. it sounds like you had a chemical PG. it's entirely possible for one test to detect super low levels of HCG and the other tests not to show a line... and because it didn't "stick" that is why your HCG levels don't seem to be going up, and why you might now be getting your period.
it happens more often than we think, because it usually happens very early in pregnancy and women assume that their period is just a day or two late.
i hope that you get some answers soon

The thing is, my period is early-- not late. I had spotting throughout the 2ww, and it was more of a constant starting at 8DPO-- happening every day after that. Now at 12 DPO, this spotting is getting heavier-- so, I can only assume it is in fact my period. It's still very dark brown blood, just more of it.

Re: So, I think I am officially the 1%
I am so sorry . I want you to try the natural progesterone cream- I think it will really help. Just make sure that the cream you buy has NO crazy herbs in it (Dong Quai, sawgrass, evening primrose) to name a few. Those herbs are bad to take in the 2WW.
I use this cream as it has no additional herbs in it other than what it needs. It was recommended to me by my OB when I told her I wanted to go this route.
You can also buy natural progesterone cream at most health food stores and GNC- altough the ones at GNC had some questionable herbs in them.
Good luck Randi. I'm sorry this wasn't the month.

Re: So, I think I am officially the 1%
It sounds like maybe you did have a chemical, as someone else mentioned. That would explain an early BFP followed by a BFN. As for a short LP - you need to talk to your doctor about that. I don't know much about the b vitamins, but I do know the NPC is not going to do anything. If you read the research on it, NPC is classified as cosmetic because it does not absorb into the skin and into your bloodstream - like hand or body lotion. You can only get progesterone supplements through a prescription.

Interesting-- cause I have a tea that is called Women's Dong Quai which I have been drinking because I thought it would HELP me... I wonder if this f*cked me up?
I am going to look for the cream and get B6 this week. I am sorta hanging around waiting for my doc to call me-- even though she is going to call my cell, this is not a conversation to be held in public!
