good luck, deb (and everyone else!!)
im a heavy sleeper, BUT i cant fall asleep if DH is already asleep and snoring. a nudge used to work, then it progressed to me turning him over, then saying SHHHHHH, then coughing really loud, pushing him... Now, i kick him, he wakes up, i fall asleep, he goes back to sleep (and snoring) and we both get to actually SLeep!!!
maybe you just have to use some negative reinforcement?

when DH snores I push him and he turns back over on his side or stomach...I also wear ear plugs because it annoys me so much!!!
DH was snoring again last night...I pushed him so hard he almost fell off the bed
