I have a had a few, but this one happened to my mom. My biological grandfather died of a heart attack when my mother was 5. When she married my dad, she was heartbroken that her dad wasn't there to walk her down the aisle and watch her get married. I have heard the same exact account from about 20 different people who were at the wedding. It was a very nice September day, so the doors to the church were open during the ceremony. Right after my mother's stepfather gave her away to my dad at the alter, a cardinal flew in the back doors of the church, and perched itself on top of the cross above the alter. It sat there for the entire ceremony, and right before my mom & dad walked up the aisle, the cardinal flew away. Everyone is 100% convinced it was my grandfather- there was no way he was going to miss his little girl's wedding. Apparently my grandmother noticed it too, and sobbed the whole ceremony. I still get chills thinking about it.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

Thought of another one. My maternal grandmother passed away in 2009, when I was 26. She and I were EXTREMELY close. From the day I was born, a very special connection existed between the two of us. Her death devastated me. She had this best friend, when she was little, the two families were neighbors and did everything together. Up until the day she died when she was 76 years old, the 2 were as close as sisters. They were like inseparable school girls even in their 70's. I had a dream one night, about a year after she passed away. I was in my backyard and my grandmother's friend was there. My grandmother pulls into the driveway, and calls for Kathy to get in the car. I start crying and asking why I can't go. She said, and I can still hear this as clear as I can hear my kids playing in the next room right now, "I came to get Kathy because she's coming to the party. You weren't invited to this party, I will come back for you another time". Kathy was dying of cancer at that time, and 3 days after I had that dream, she passed away. I believe with all my heart that my grandmother wanted me to know that she was ok, and I smile envisioning the 2 best friends, finally together again, as they always were in life.

My mother was in hospice care. On a Monday, I woke up and saw that my watch had died at 12:55 at some point over the weekend. I told my husband that I knew this was a sign from my grandparents and I knew my mom would pass at 12:55.

That Saturday, she died at 12:55.

I have received many signs from my loved ones on the other side and am sure that life exists after this one.

This is how i am able to deal with scary health issues that arise. I feel like when the day comes that I close my eyes and don't wake up, when my eyes open, I'll see my father. Then I think of him holding the baby we lost. That makes me feel ok with whatever is to come

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

OP- I just wanted to ask if you have tried asking your loved one to send you a sign? I truly believe they are listening and come through to us when we ask, but not always right away or in the way you imagine.

With my grandmother and the music box, she sent me the sign literally instantaneously.

But here is another story, also about my grandmother.

About a year after my grandmother died, my mom was missing her and one night said out loud "Mom, I need you to send me a sign that you are still there." She waited, and nothing happened. So she went to bed that night doubtful. In the middle of the night that same night, she was awoken by a weird noise. She kept falling back asleep but waking up to hear this strange buzzing sound. It was driving her crazy. Then my dad woke up from it too. They got up and started to look around their room, going crazy not being able to find it.

They finally found the source. It was a little battery powered lint remover (?) that had belonged to my grandmother, which was sitting inside my father's dresser drawer since she passed. My dad had not touched it since they took it when she died. And it never just turned on before or since.

Well, my mom instantly realized that was her sign.

So, I say ask him or her for your sign, keep an open mind and I bet you will get it soon. Chat Icon

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

My grandparents lived with me since I was four. They moved in once my parents got divorced to help my mother out. My grandmother passed away when I was 7. My grandfather died 8 months after I got married. I am convinced he held on until he could walk me down the aisle. He had been sick for a long time. He was like a father to me, better yet he took the place of my father.
When he passed I was having a very difficult time. A couple of weeks after he died, I had a dream that I was about 9 years old and I was in my childhood home. The bell rang and when I opened the door my grandfather was standing there, wearing his favorite burgundy sweater. I hugged him immediately and I remember the feeling of his sweater on my cheek. When I let go and looked at him, he was in his pajamas, small and frail, just like when he passed away. He told me, "I can't stay long. I just came to tell you to please stop crying. I am with Grandma now and I am ok. I want you to know that." I asked if I could see her and he said I couldn't. He hugged me again and told me he had to go. That was exactly what I needed to heal. I remember my mom being so upset because he hadn't come to her but she felt so much better when I told her my dream.
A few years later, I remember feeling a presence in my house. It was around the anniversary of his death. A bottle of wine suddenly knocked over and sprayed everywhere. Days later my 2 year old son told me there was an "invisible man." I had to shout out when I was alone "Grandpa if this is you, please stop. You know I'm a chicken and I don't like that stuff. Just visit in my dreams." Whatever it was stopped, but I am convinced it was him.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

I've had a few that involve my grandfather and my MIL

The day of my wedding, during the outdoor ceremony, a seagull kept flying overhead. I didn't know at the time, but saw my family sobbing during the ceremony and kept wondering why they all looked so sad. Turns out they all saw that seagull and knew it was my grandfather visiting (he always said he wanted to come back as a seagull so he could poop on people lol).

I also had a very vivid dream of him and I sitting at the kitchen table in his old house, talking. I don't remember what we were talking about, but it felt SO real. This was the day before my brothers' conformations, so I think he wanted to say hello.

This one is silly, but he used to call me "Crisco, fat in a can" when I would sit on his lap when I was very little. Over the years, I've randomly seen the old commercials for it on TV, and knew it was him.

My MIL passed away 8 years ago. A few weeks after she passed, it was the first Mother's Day without her. When DH opened the door in the morning, there was a single pink balloon just sitting there so still at the foot of the door.

While we were taking our wedding photos, DH and I started talking about MIL. When we got our photos back weeks later, we noticed during the time we were taking about her, the cloud on the background formed a perfect heart shape. It was an incredible photo. I even emailed the photographer to see if they edited it at all, and they offered to give us the raw photo showing they did not enhance or edit it. We know it was her way of saying she was with us

I was super closer with my grandma and whenever I ask for a sign I receive one..ex: I was struggling with trying to have a anabt and was driving into city to see my dr.. I was feeling very down and asked her for a sign she is with me and I would be a mommy.. I changed radio stations. And somewhere over the rainbow was on( our favorite movie together was wizard of oz. recently I was struggling again with baby number two: asked for her a sign. Was driving home and turned down wrong block which is not like me at all.. I looked over and someone was cleaning out there house and was using old Sterns bags.. that was my grandmas favorite store and they closed 20 years ago! I truly believe she is watching over me.

I also remembered after my 3rd was born, I was so upset my mom had not been there to see him. About 8 months after he was born, I was telling DH I really wish my mom was here. That night one of my twins woke me up saying grandma won't stop bothering him (mind you, she passed when my twins were 8 months old so not like he remembered her- he was about 2 1/2 when this happened). But we showed pictures and said grandma so he knew who grandma was.

DH and I both got up and said what? He said she keeps waking me up and wants to play, but I told her I'm tired so she told me to get you.Chat Icon . I still get chills when I think about it. This has happened to him from time to time but is getting less the older he gets (he's 5 now). I think he has some sort of gift or something or is just very open and innocent so the spirits are drawn to him.

I definitely feel that my loved ones send me signs that they're still with us.

There's been lots of little things that have happened, but this still gives me chills:

Backstory: Whenever I'm going through a tough time I listen to 'Let It Be.' It's just something I've always done. Also, I've always made a wish at 11:11 if I happened to catch it on the clock. When I was pregnant with my twins, my due date was 11/25 but my gyno had said that I'd have a scheduled c-section on 11/11 if I didn't go into labor before then. I ended up going into labor on 7/16 and lost my boys. Since then, I will talk to the boys anytime I see 11:11 on the clock.

On my first day back to work after my loss I was having a REALLY tough time. At one point I said 'Boys, please give me strength to get through this day.' Well that morning 'Let It Be' came on the radio, I looked at the clock when it came on a it was 11:11. I swear it was them letting me know they were OK.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

I've had the butterfly thing too, which I believe is my mother who died. But what I am trying to piece together is the significance of the number 11. It's been for a few months now. It started with me always glancing at the time, or seeing numbers at work that were always 911, 9/11, 9:11. Then is was always 11. The minute was always on minute 11. Reopen Facebook to see 111 likes on a pic. Awake suddenly at night, it's always on an 11. 2:11 am, 3:11 am. Price of something, the change is .11. These are just a few examples. Just nonstop 11's. I'm still trying to figure out the significance of that number and why it's happened so much recently

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

I love this thread!

I lost my mom almost a year ago and I know I've felt her in my home with me for a few months. We even had a light fixture in our master bath that had a wonky third bulb that kept going out. I'd tighten it and it would go out and flicker. I knew it was mom telling me she was there. My dad at the time was selling their home and moving to a senior community. I think when he moved, she went with him b/c I haven't felt her.

I miss her and I've even doubted ever feeling her or thinking the electrical problem was simply that, an electrical problem. Hearing these stories has restored my faith in the after life and what's waiting for us all. I can't wait to see my mom again some day.

OP, I hope you hear your answer soon.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

My aunt died suddenly from a brain aneurysm when she was 52 (about 19 years ago). She and I were extremely close. At the time I had just experienced a miscarriage. After she was gone a few months I got pregnant again. I was so scared I would miscarry again and was just nervous everyday of my pregnancy. I had a dream one night and my aunt was there. She looked beautiful and happy and she was right in front of me clear as day. I told her "guess what? Im pregnant!" She looked at me with a huge smile and said "I know sweetheart and you are going to have a beautiful baby boy!". I woke up feeling so happy and felt much more relaxed with my pregnancy. Well six months later she was right... I had my beautiful, healthy baby boy :)

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

I have gotten many over the years from various people.

One that is crazy was on the 5 year anniversary of my grandmother's death. All day I was waiting for some sign for her. All day, nothing. Finally it was night time and I logged onto to my computer to play words with friends. I was in a game with my sister. It had actually been quite a few days since I had gone and was finally getting to it.

So I look at what she wrote last, and it was the word 'wool.' My thought was, ok, what can I build off of her L.

My letters were, iermuie.

Her name was Muriel. Literally no other letters than what are in her name. It was awesome! I took a pic of that for everyone to see lol!

Then on the 1 year anniversary of my grandfather's death, (her husband), I got a sign from him. A while before he died he gave me a bird feeder that was an odd shape. It came to be described as a hummingbird feeder, which I have never seen in real life in my life.

On his anniversary, I happen to look out at one of my potted plants and see the hugest bee I have ever seen. So I looked closer and it was a hummingbird!!!! I actually got video of it. First and last time I have ever seen one in my life.

The next year I was going on a winery trip with my friends. I said, Ok, Pop, I am sure I will hear from you today and you will keep me safe. The limo driver shows up at my friend's house and I go out to meet him. "Hi, I'm Jim." My poppy's name. Chat Icon

I have been waiting for some sign from loved ones but nothing until the other night. I dreamt of my aunt and I went to her and told her all my problems but she didn't respond. She just listened. And then I woke up. Not sure what that means. I am hoping for something that will give me some reassurance in my life because I am in a dark place right now.

thanks for sharing! I really love all these stories!

Of everyone I've lost (my entire family) my Mom who has been gone the longest (16 years next month) has been with me every step of the way. There have been detailed accounts where her presence has been acknowledged, but it's quite private. Most of the time it is a feeling of peace and love that I just can't explain.

ask for the person you want to give you the sign before you go to sleep they may come to you in your dreams.

My Dad passed away 3 years ago and a few weeks ago his nephews family was over my house . My cousins 2 year old was sitting on his lap and was waving to the corner of the room right where my Dad use to sit. And he said to her who are you waving to. and she said Him? ( like Duh don't you see him.) we were all spooked then he said can you go hug him and she shrugged and said she can't.

My Dad comes to me many times in my dreams. sometime I will get into my car and a song that always reminds me of him comes on. ( anything by Kenny rogers) When I was pregnant before I knew it was a boy I constantly heard this old song about a little boy playing ball.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones

When I was little, my family and I would live at my grandfather's country house for 2 -3 weeks in the summer. I remember waking up every morning to the sound of blue Jays making their loud calls.

20 plus years later when my Papa died, I was alone at the cemetery visiting him. I was talking to him and then a blue Jay made its call from a tree branch above my head. I knew it was him. I also asked if him and his wife were happy in heaven and immediately a female blue Jay landed next to the male.

I'm now crying as I remember this moment because I know in my heart there is a heaven for our loved ones and they can definitely hear us.

My dad passed away many years ago (20+)

I take the LIRR every day. Today, on what would have been his 76th birthday, I saw an ad on the LIRR (that I have never seen before) for his favorite wine.

Maybe I will buy a bottle tonight!
