"Signs" from loved ones - Update
I know this sounds crazy but I am hoping for some signs from loved ones that have passed in helping me with some recent struggles that I am going through. I need some hope that these signs do exist. This is what I need to keep looking forward. Can anyone share their experience please. Anyone struggle in their life and got a "sign" that everything will be ok.
Update: I got a sign from my loved one. So I def know she is listening!!!!

I have had my parents come to me in dreams
Once i had a feeling of someone standing near me (heat strong energy) once soon after each of my parents passed
I ask for their guidance during meditation - this is a big one
I have never had any other signs just the pure belief that only their physical body is gone

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
My mom died 12 years ago, and in the beginning, I would "feel" her. I would feel a heaviness around me, like when someone hovers over you, but there was no one there. Twice I felt a caress on my cheek. Might have been crazy, but I sometimes heard her voice calling my name.
I didn't feel scared, more comforted by the signs. I haven't felt them in a very long time, I believe that her spirit knew that we are all ok and was able to cross over to the other side.
Now I just dream about her once in a while, mostly when I am under stress. It's her way of telling me that everything is going to be ok.
Oh, I find dimes in weird places, like the one standing on end on my ironing board. That might be my MIL though.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
My sister recently went through something (biopsies, etc) and she said one day she was in her house and started talking out loud to our friend who passed not too long ago. She said “I’m scared and just need to know that all these tests are going to come out fine – and that you are with me and watching over me.” She happened to be eating vegetable soup (with all the letters in it, etc) and she said she took the spoon out of the soup and there was H H on the spoon. That’s it. Those were our friends initials.
She knew then that everything would be ok. And it was.
Many hugs to you!!

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
My mom. Right after she died. I was in NYC in mid march. So it was cold. Cold.
I stopped in an alcove to talk with someone on the phone. There was a butterfly DESPERATELY trying to get to me. I noticed it but didn't think much of it until it came right up to me and landed on me. For about 30 seconds.
I found out later that butterflies are a sign of a loved one that has past. I cried when I found out because I KNEW it was my mom.
Then in may I was outside. On my back deck. A beautiful monarch butterfly landed on the porch. Completely randomly. I went up to it and it allowed me to put it on my finder. For like 2 min.
I know that was also my mom. I KNOW. March will be 2 years.
It has never happened since. But I'm very much convinced it was her. I take that back. I know without a shrewd of doubt it was her.
I also have been very much at peace with her dying. It's not easy, but I am at peace and have decided that for me I can't wallow in the loss. It will kill me if I do. I so I honor her memory by living an amazing life she would want me to live. And being happy. And remembering her with a smile.
She would not want me to be sad. THAT would kill her ;)

I've heard about the butterflies too. That when they land on you, it is a spirit reaching out to you.
Completely forgot about that one. It's happened to me too, landed on my leg while I was sitting.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
It has happened to my sister. She asked my dad to give her a sign with a specific word. My dad was a composer and the word was in one of her songs. My mom, without knowing this, called her later on that day, because that song was on the radio. It was very random.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
It happened to me. Two weeks after my grandmother died, I was lying in bed and thinking about something I wanted to tell her (about something that happened with my then BF, now DH). So said out loud to her "I wish you could give me a sign that you are still there listening." And all of a sudden, a music box that was locked in the off position, sitting on my dresser untouched for about 15 years, started to play a few notes. I froze and said "Ok, Nan, I know you are there now. Please do not scare me like that ever again!" I knew then and there that she will always be watching over me. I have no doubt.

What is the deal with the dimes? What does it symbolize? My grandma passed over the Summer, and I've heard others say they find dimes after a loved one passed. I've found quite a few in random places in the past couple of months.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I love reading all these stories. My husbands best friend Cosmo passed. He was only 49 and it was very sudden. The day of the funeral we got a letter in the mail from a mortgage company to refinance and it included a pack of flower seeds called Cosmos.
Another close friend passed a few years earlier. At the wake a friend of ours was saying when she went to work that day there was a bluejay feather in front of the door and she felt like it was a sign from our friend. When we came home from the funeral the next day there was a bluejay feather in front of our house.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I didn't really have a strong opinion on this in either direction until recently.
A close friend of mine lost her 4 month old daughter in October. It was devastating & came at a time when I was already severely struggling with life Well one night shortly after she passed, I had a dream that my friend & I were playing with her little girl in a big play center & chasing her around. The last thing I remember before waking up was saying "Thank you for letting me come play with you. I'm so glad you're okay." When I woke up I felt peaceful, sad, & shocked- I could swear it was real.
I know she was telling me not to worry & that she was okay. I told my friend right away & she agreed. She really helped bring some peace when I needed it.
ETA: Another friend & i sent the parents an assortment of cupcakes before the funeral. Cupcake was their nickname for their little one. The signs they attribute to her are butterflies & rainbows. The "assorted cupcakes" ended up all being decorated with butterflies & rainbows. We didn't even know the cupcakes were decorative when we ordered. We thought they were just plain frosting.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I was rehospitalized 10 days after I had my son with a massive infection and sepsis. At the time the dr wasn't sure if my kidneys were failing. I was incredibly sick but I just wanted to go home to my kids. That's when the dr told me that I am lucky to be alive and I'm not out of the woods yet. I remember trying to stay awake because I was so scared to fall asleep. I dozed off and on and then the sun stared to rise directly in front of my window. That's when I saw it. A lone seagull who kept flying right in front of my window. That's been a reminder of my aunt, who I was extremely close to, since she passed 4 years ago. I remember knowing I was going to be ok. Weird thing is when I arrived home, I had a seagull feather on my pant leg.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
Just got one today!
Long story short, I was calling my insurance carrier for coverage for BRCA1 testing (my fathers brother tested + and my dad died a long time ago which means we don't know if he was a carrier, so we all have to get tested)
The woman asked me if my name was short for anything. I thought to myself, wtf can Phyllis be short for?? But I just said no. She then said oh, I only ask because my sister is Phyllis but she is named after a family member who is Filomena. I got all choked up. My dad used to call me that. I AM named after a great grandmother Filomena. And he used to call me his little Filomen
Obv. gonna go through with all the testing but I'm gonna take that as a sign from him that all is good

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
As others have said, butterflies find me in the most random places. My mom had a tattoo of a butterfly (her only tattoo). She has been gone a little over 4 years now. Still struggle with it.
After she died, I took 2 weeks off work. When I went back, it was so tough. I thought I can't do this. I had to walk outside to get some air. I said please please mom, help me. Tell me it will be ok. I sat on a bench. A butterfly came at that moment and landed on my lap and stayed there so still. I know it was my mom. I said thank you.
Butterflies still visit me often and my kids. My son told me the other day, there was a butterfly in his room bothering him. DH and I both said what? We checked and couldn't find anything but he said it follows him sometimes. I don't know if he was imagining it, but I really think it was my mom.
She used to always say things like when I'm gone, I'll haunt all of you. I feel her a lot and think about her every day.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
The last time I read something like this on this forum it was filled with many similar stories to the ones you are reading. That night, as I went to sleep, I was lamenting the fact that it had never happened to me and how sad I was over my mother's passing.
I woke the next morning to DH saying "what's that noise?" I was still groggy, but instinctively answered "it's a bird knocking on the window." He thought I was nuts, so I got out of bed and pulled back the curtains - and sure enough, there was a cardinal tapping its beak against the window. I would have thought the movement of the curtain would make it fly away, but it didn't. It sat there for a minute or two just looking at me. Then it bounced around on various branches before shaking its tail feathers at me, and flying away.
It was my wedding anniversary that day, and I'm sure it was my mom.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
One time we were going to mass for all the people who passed, including my grandma... And right near my grandmothers name was the first names of her son and husband who have passed before her. I knew she was ok and with her family.
another time I was passing st. Charles's cemetery on new highway. There was my grandparents last name on a tombstone. (not very common). It wasn't theirs but it made me think of my grandma who passed that day years earlier.
Both my in laws have passed. My husband's father (who I never met) some times will visit me in my dreams.
Edited to add... My husband's mother loved birds. Not to keep in the house but outside... So when I see 2, especially cardinals... I always think they are visiting us.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I have a had a few, but this one happened to my mom. My biological grandfather died of a heart attack when my mother was 5. When she married my dad, she was heartbroken that her dad wasn't there to walk her down the aisle and watch her get married. I have heard the same exact account from about 20 different people who were at the wedding. It was a very nice September day, so the doors to the church were open during the ceremony. Right after my mother's stepfather gave her away to my dad at the alter, a cardinal flew in the back doors of the church, and perched itself on top of the cross above the alter. It sat there for the entire ceremony, and right before my mom & dad walked up the aisle, the cardinal flew away. Everyone is 100% convinced it was my grandfather- there was no way he was going to miss his little girl's wedding. Apparently my grandmother noticed it too, and sobbed the whole ceremony. I still get chills thinking about it.
