"Signs" from loved ones
I know we've done this in the past, but this just happened this a.m. and I can't stop thinking about it. My grandma passed on October 7 of this year. While I was driving to work this a.m., I just started thinking about her. I guess with the New Year approaching...Anyway, I was talking to her and telling her how much I love her & miss her, etc...I glanced at the license plate on the car in front of me and it was: GMA and some #'s. I guess that was her way of letting me know she hears me. That's what I like to believe anyway.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I think that's awesome
The older I get, the more in touch with the spiritual world I am becoming. I definitely see and hear signs on a regular basis, but I also feel that I am able to communicate with my Gramps in some capacity. I can't even do it all of the time, but it has happened.
This isn't a sign story, but it is something unusual that happened recently:
I was visiting my mom in the nursing home for the first time. In walked a nurse, and I got this weird feeling. I felt like, "Oh, what are you doing here?"
The best way I can explain it: Most of my co-workers live about 45-90 minutes away from me. If I saw one of them in my local diner, I would obviously know who the person is...but would be shocked that he/she was there. This is how I felt about the nurse.
She immediately looked at me and goes, "Oh my gosh. You look just like my daughter...your hair...your eyes...your nose...etc."
It was bizarre.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I totally believe in signs. The most recent one I got was when I was going to buy pregnancy tests and my absolute favorite song came on in the store. It's not a song that plays on the radio very much. I texted DH do you think that is a good sign...well to me it was because I got a + preg test the next morning!!!

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I have a lot and I'm glad I do. I lost my mom in 2007. I miss her everyday even more now that I have dd. well I did research and booked my newborn photog. I didn't know her and it was random other than the research I did and her pricing.
Well when dd was 5 days old she came over for the shoot. She started asking where I was originally from, etc. Her family ended up living two house down and not only did I know them but we were close with them. Well she also knew my mom. Not only that when my mom got sick the neighbors all got together and made a video for her. Well guess who made that video, my newborn photog. We both got chills and I started crying. It was like my mom was there with us.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
And I have another big one. A couple months after my mom passed I went to boston to visit my aunt, her sister. I was never a cat person but that weekend I decided I had to adopt a cat, must be a female, all black and a kitten. So my aunt amused me and we went to the shelters in Boston knowing I would now have to fly back with this kitten.
We found a kitten. Super sweet, all black and female. Her name was lily. My mom lost her mom when she was 13 years old, her name was Lillian. I knew that my mom had sent that kitten for me.

Yes!! Before my pop pop passed, he told us to watch for dimes. A few months after he passed, I cleaned out my junk drawer in the kitchen and found only one coin, a dime. A few weeks ago my MIL was putting her jacket on and a coin dropped out, instead of putting it back in her pocket she kind of slapped it down on my table.. I looked down and said, "you did not just put a dime on my table". Sure it could be coincidence, but I'd rather think of these as signs.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
DH grandfather just passed away Sunday night, we were all very close and it was very sudden and shocking. We are heartbroken.
I shared this story on parenting that night.....Im convinced there was a greater force at work here.
OK, I try not to reveal the sex or age of my DC on here but I need to for this story bc it gives me so much solace right now.
DS is the 4th....he is named after the GGF who just passed away, as is my FIL and DH. Every xmas eve since he was born we have taken a pic of the 4 generations of "Name". This year, at dinner, we forgot.
On the way home, I realized we didn't do it this year. I remembered about 20 minutes into the car ride home. I wasn't going to say anything and I thought about it for about another 5 minsute bc the kids had already fallen asleep in the car. Finally, I said to DH...."turn the car around, we can still catch them, we didn't take the picture this year". He was like "no, we will get it next year, the kids are already asleep" I let it go for a few minutes and again for some reason it was nagging at me and I was like "you need to go back, we need to get the picture."
We did and we got back to DH parents house as they were getting in the car to leave. I woke up DS, made everyone go back into the house and take the annual picture.
I will be forever grateful that we did that. It will be my most treasured picture. He was like the grandfather I didn't have, and we were all very close. That picture means even more to me now.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
DH is a huge Star Wars fan, so our 2-year-old DS has Star Wars bath toys and knows all their names. So lately in the car, every time we pass the cemetery where my grandfather is buried he yells out, "Boba Fett!" I feel like it's my grandfather's sense of humor for my son to yell out a random Star Wars character only in that area of town!

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
My mom passed away in 2006. She had a very close relationship with my oldest nephew who was 5 when she died. I don't know why, but she called him her shiny penny. So ever since then when I find a shiny penny I feel like its a sign from my mom. I got engaged in 2010. The night after we got engaged we spent at Eastwind. I was so happy but missing my mom to share it with. While we were walking to the restaurant to go to dinner I found a shiny penny on the floor! I was laughing and crying at the same time. I'll never forget that she sent me a sign to let me know she was there and happy for me

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I have dreams... My aunt was very sick and eventually died from Lung Cancer in 2006. Right before she passed, about 1 week prior, I dreamed the exact sequence of events that would lead to her passing... and it occurred EXACTLY how I dreamed it. About a month prior to that, I had a dream with her in which she and I were at my other aunts house at a party and she grabbed me and started dancing with me and whispered in my ear that everything was going to be OK, that she was going to be OK.
1 year later, around Easter, I dreamed that I went to my father's house for Easter dinner and she was there, but no one else could see her, and she looked FABULOUS!
DH's father passed away in 2000 when DH was 16, he has dreams where he comes and visits, they don't talk, they just eat... which, if you knew my husband, you'd know it was very appropriate. One night I woke up around 3am and in my half awake stooper I opened my blurry eyes and saw a gentleman standing over our bed on DH's side looking down on him. When we woke the next morning DH told me he had another dream about his dad... I knew that the man I saw was DH's father and that he was there to look after him...

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I absolutely believe in signs. I've had a few this year.
1- Backstory: Whenever I'm going through a tough time I listen to 'Let It Be.' It's just something I've always done. Also, I've always made a wish at 11:11 if I happened to catch it on the clock. When I was pregnant with my twins, my due date was 11/25 but my gyno had said that I'd have a scheduled c-section on 11/11 if I didn't go into labor before then. I ended up going into labor on 7/16 and lost my boys. Since then, I will talk to the boys anytime I see 11:11 on the clock.
On my first day back to work after my loss I was having a REALLY tough time. At one point I said 'Boys, please give me strength to get through this day.' Well that morning 'Let It Be' came on the radio, I looked at the clock when it came on a it was 11:11. I swear it was them letting me know they were OK.
2- We went to a Rangers game a few months ago and DH started talking to the guy sitting next to him. We were discussing how long we've been married and the guy looks at us and goes 'So when are the twins coming?' We were both like DH said that was the first time he felt like they were with us.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
The dimes are signs for me too. Have no idea why. I find dimes in the oddest places, the strangest had to be the dime standing on its edge on my dresser. I kid you not. That one freaked me out. I keep all the dimes in a special place.
Very rarely now do I catch a whiff of my mom's perfume Chanel No5. I have a bottle but hardly ever wear it. Mom is gone 9 years now and I still remember her perfume.

When we moved into our house, we were sanding our floors and staining them, we had just finished sanding the downstairs bedroom and we walked out, then went to go stain it and there was a quarter just sitting in the center of the room.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I love these!! I have had many but this one is cool. Years ago my poppy bought me a bird feeder...specifically a hummingbird feeder. When I moved, I never hung it up and I think I threw it out :(
Last September I was in my kitchen and noticed somethung odd flying around my potted plants. Lo and behold it was a hummingbird! AND it reminded me that it was the anniversary of his death. I even got video of it. The ONLY time I've ever seen a hummingbird.
This year in my morning rush as I'm driving to work my car doors unlocked themselves and it startled me reminding me of his anniversary again!
In 2010, I had a words with friends game going with my sister.. It was the anniversary of my nannys death. I Log on to play and my sister just wrote 'wool' so I thought ok what can I build off of her 'L'
I look at my letters and they are eimurie and my nannys name is Muriel. Took a pic of that too!!

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
Not really a sign, but about 3x now, I've run into doppelgängers of my mother who passed last year. Last week, we went to mass on Xmas eve. About 3 pews up, there was a woman who looked just like my mother from behind and side. Same hair cut, color, weight and even the curve of her back and hunched shoulders. I didn't pay attention, have no idea what the priest said, I just stared at this woman, pretending it was really her sitting ahead of me for an hour.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I was devastated when my Grandfather died. We were very close he was like a dad to me and I know I was his favorite grandchild. Anyway after he died I started noticing all these butterflies around me. Anytime I would feel sad all of a sudden butterflies would be around me and even follow me. Even now sometimes when I'm sad or missing him I will see a butterfly. And it just hit me now but DD got the elf on the shelf last year and out of all things she named her Butterfly.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
My grandma always said I had the nicest, shiniest hair ever.. She was always very upfront and always said I should tell her daughters how to get their hair shiny because their hair was horrible lol Last year at a Mets game, this random usher followed me to the bathroom and I remember clearly she said "not to sound weird but I've been watching you all game. You have the shiniest hair ever. Has anybody told you that ever? I'm drawn to you for some reason". It was so random and so my grandma!

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
Dimes definitely. Since my nana passed away I've found tons of dimes. The craziest was right after my dd2 was born. I was worried and taking her to the doctor for one of her early newborn checkups and as I was walking out of My house with her I spot a shiny dime at my feet.i picked jt up and said "hi nana. Please stay with me and dd today". Then as I got into the car, another dime. The only coin on the floor. So once dds check up was over and I got up in the exam room to pack her up, I see behind the chair I was sitting in were SIX dimes on the floor in a pile. I couldn't believe it and knew it was my nana.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
Right after my grandfather passed my oldest dc and I would see white butterflies all the time. It seemed odd since it was October and I had never noticed all white butterflies. I really believed that the butterflies were a sign from him. We stopped seeing the butterflies but now I occasionally have dreams of him. My dc was young when he passed but he still talks about him and has even told us that he visits him in his room sometimes

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I love these stories! I have quite a few, but I will share a recent one:
My FIL died very suddenly last month. My husband and I were devastated because my Mil is battling cancer and things aren't looking good and we were preparing for the worst with her and never even thought for a second we could lose his dad in a second. Well, I was driving home from the doctor about two weeks ago and I was feeling so sad. Just sad for my FIL and sad for my Mil and so I said out loud to my FIL, "I just miss you so much and wish I knew what to do and I'm sorry if I wasn't a good enough Dil all the time." Then I turned on the radio and it was all Christmas music and I kept thinking about how I really just needed a sad song like this one song that I can't remember the name of. But it's not a song you often hear on the radio at all. It's from the 90s and was never popular, but it was one of those songs that could just give you something to relate to. Well, I changed the radio station and that exact song was on. I truly believe it was my FIL.

Re: "Signs" from loved ones
I have one . . My mom passed away suddenly in 2010. My sister is getting married in April so we were at the bridal salon trying on dresses over the summer. She had it narrowed down to 2 choices and they both were beautiful. We were both so sad that Mommy wasn't there to share in this day but we were making the best of it. I told her to try them both on 1 more time . . As she came out in the first dress the song "We are Family" by Sister Sledge started playing, which used to be the ring tone for when my mom called my sister!! We both started crying and said "that's the dress that Mommy wants ??". She bought the dress right there . . I'll never forget it!
