Oh my God, no, no, no. They are banned from major museums and attractions for a reason. They are obnoxious and I think the nickname "narcissistic" is fitting.
I'm not the only one
i LOVE this article Agree with absolutely everything in it 100%. Stop f'ing around trying to take a 'perfect' picture of where you are and instead, actually enjoy the moment!
I love this article And this part the most:
Mobile phones have become such an extension of our lives it’s a wonder my generation even remembers life without them. But I do.
Because back then holidays weren’t about other people’s perception of how great a time you had.
They were about playing on a beach with carefree abandon, eating ice cream for breakfast, keeping a daily holiday journal, staying up playing Uno with the family until midnight, and simply allowing ourselves pure, unadulterated joy in life.
Then returning home and telling our friends about it during our recess break.
Today it’s more about how quick we can upload our latest holiday snaps to show our social network just how immersed in the moment we are. Only thing is ... we aren’t.

Ehhhh I'm not going to agree
Do I think we all spend way too much time on our phones. Yes
For me using the stick or my phone and uploadig a pic doesn't mean we didn't have a good time and didn't talk and socialize etc
For me it's a rememberence of the good time we had
Sometimes it isn't about the deeper meaning and technology. Sometimes it's just about snapping. A great friend or family pic to look at 20 years later

An opportunity to take family pics without asking a stranger for help? Yay!
this is the best use of them IMO!
agreed! i got one for this reason. i am the designated photo taker and have very short arms, so lots of cool stuff would always get cut off.. like fh's head, for instance....

They're probably the most ridiculous invention to date. Every time I see someone use a selfie stick I cannot stop laughing... like ROTF belly laughing (literally this guy ).
Sorry but it looks so stupid.

Re: Selfie-sticks: Yay or nay
It's like a tripod- a modern tripod. I'm not sitting around taking selfies all day long. I use it when I'm holiday with DH, so we don't have to ask strangers to take our pic. Believe me, we are not sitting around taking selfies the whole time. Snap a pic by a famous landmark and move along. I'm also not about posting tons of pics on FB. I don't use FB that often.
I think people are bit too much to think that's what vacations are about nowadays. I live away from my entire family and see them once every 1-2 years. I want to send them pics. Why not use a selfie stick?

I never used one. Probably never will. But they don't bother me.
This is me exactly
