i think theyre hilarious, although i dont have one and never used one.
difference to me:
selfie. one person taking a pic of themselves so people will say they look good.
selfie stick: getting a group together to capture some good memories without needing a stranger or lone friend to take it lol

Yay for certain situations. My DH and I were just on our honeymoon and we bought a selfie stick to use---so helpful! We actually attached our camera to the stick vs. our iphone and took some great pictures.

Yay- random strangers are mean and they don't care if your picture comes out nice. And I have short arms. I don't really care about them for selfies, but they work well for fitting everyone in group shots. I have no selfie stick shame.

I can see why it would be helpful to take couple/family pics, but I would just rather not use one to be honest. I would not spend money on one. If I received it as a gift, then maybe.

Great invention to capture picture. Don't want to be one to be pointed at using it otherwise, this is very useful if you want to capture that moment with everybody in picture and not asking a stranger to hold your $600 phone with your bank information, addresses, contacts and their addresses, pictures of your kids and of course, your high score in Crossy Road.

I have seeing myself in pictures but I did recently buy one. Only because my friend had one and seeing her take pictures very easily of her family and her in it, won me over. I'm never in pictures because my husband hate taking out his phone to take pictures so I'm always the one taking pictures of him and the girls, never me it. So when my girls start looking at old pictures they will never see me in it. Had to change that so I got myself a selfie-stick.
