i have one this year and i am SO UPSET!! it's out of state. DS will be 15 months old so it's his first halloween where i can walk around with him and i won't be able to.
i'm considering RSVPing no, but it's a good friend so i don't know how i can do it. but my son comes first. i don't know what to do.

I had one last year. It had a Halloween theme (but no costumes), and was a lot of fun. I didn't mind at all, and had a great time.

Fine before I had DS. Now I would only do a "late" evening wedding or find a way to do trick or treat that morning. I would not go OOT.

your son won't even know what he is missing! Sounds like its more for you than him to go trick or treating! It depends on how close you are with the bride/groom. If its a close friend you should go IMO. Weddings on Halloween are fine, especially if at night, kids usually do not go trick or treating too late. It stinks that its out of state? far away or an hour away? maybe you can try and do both, since its on a saturday you can do trick or treating even earlier??

of course it's for me. i don't care that he won't know what he's missing. I will know what he's missing. i'm his mother and i should be with him on halloween. my son comes BEFORE my friends. and it's OOS, so i will have to leave early--we're not going TOTing in the early morning hours.
i don't honestly understand your comment and what its purpose was. it's not you, so i don't know why you'd tell me what i should do.
before DS, it would have been great. now, not so much.

Honestly I voted Yay Wedding, but after reading some of the other responses, I could see it being boooo too. If I had older kids, then I would want to go out with them when it was dusk and a tiny bit scarier out. I enjoy halloween. That really is a tough call. Right now though, I'm all for it.

I absolutely love Halloween but a wedding date is what it is. A bride and groom only have so many dates to choose from, especially in my religion where much of the fall is forbidden. I was in a bridal party the day after Halloween this past year. I took DS to his Music Together class in costume, took some pictures with him but my parents took him trick or treating. Because of our late arrival, we missed a dinner (they didn't do any rehearsing anyway). It was DS's first real Halloween because he was only 2 weeks old the previous year. Is there a way for you to get some Halloween time with DS? Is it the wedding of someone close to you? In my case, it was.

I'm willing to go anywhere as long as I don't miss my kids' Halloween parade & the trick or treating.
Even though they are old enough to know, it would still bother me if they were younger. I've taken off every Halloween for the past 9 years either to see my nieces, nephews & now my kids.

It wouldnt bother me but i do like giving out candy on halloween so i would miss that
My sister has an almost 2 year old and i know she loves taking her daughter trick or treating, its a really big deal to her and she would not want to miss out on it

AS an adult, Halloween means nothing to me, so I don't care and would be happy to attend the wedding, provided it was in the evening and my kids got a chance to go trick or treating before we had to go to the wedding.

I would love to go to a Halloween wedding. I think it would be fun (actually any day a wedding is fun)! It wouldn't bother me at all that it's on Halloween (we don't do anything special on Halloween anyway).

I wouldn't mind it at all. If DS had to go trick or treating with Grandma or a friend instead of me, I don't think it's a big deal. A wedding is a once in a lifetime event. Halloween comes every year.

I just got married on Halloween. Our ceremony was at 7.30 so there was time to go Trick or Treating for the locals. The OOS guests that came, could Trick or Treat in my neighborhood if they chose too, but we told them that we had alot of stuff for the kids there. We had quite a few kids come, so we had a HUGE candy table for them, Goodie Bags and Caramel Apples. All the guests who had kids said all the kids had a great time and really enjoyed it! They said they didnt feel like they missed out on Halloween
