Question about curtains

I want to order curtains for the nursery but I am so confused. I want to order curtains that go from over the top of the window's molding to the floor. The distance from the top of the molding to the floor is 87 inches. The curtains I am looking at come in either 84 inches or 96 inches. What the heck are you supposed to do in these circumstances? Buy the longer curtains sand hem them?

Question about curtains

We bought curtains from Ikea...and they were soooo long. But we bought this hem tape stuff. So my mom cut them...and then used the hem tape to hem them.

Re: Question about curtains

I just wanted to share that I'm shopping at Pottery Barn Kids and I decided to have a chat session with customer service to see what I should do. This was the sales associate's response:

Customer: In this situation is it recommended to purchase the longer curtains and have them hemmed?

Christopher: I know hardly anything about curtains, but what I would do is purchase the 96-inch size and modify it, yes.

Is this guy serious - he is a sales associate in a home decor store and he knows "hardly anything about curtains". Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Question about curtains

yes buy longer and hem OR use the rings to attach the curtain to the rod and that might buy you a couple inches.

also you can hang the rod so it is directly over the top moulding and not above it.

Re: Question about curtains

Can you install the curtain rod higher? I know a lot of interior designers do it to make the room and window appear larger.

Otherwise, I'd get the longer curtains and hem them.

Question about curtains

We hung our curtains in the nursery from floor to ceiling. Like a pp said it makes the room look taller.

Also if you have time keep looking, I just got new curtains for my bedroom from West Elm that were 90" so some places will carry different sizes that might work better for you.
